Rainbows also don't occur at night. You can't judge the surreal and symbolic by any measurement of accuracy. That's part of their freedom.

If NegativeFeedback -himself- comes over and explains that the magenta was intentional, and not a small mistake, and if his reasons are good then I will retract my statement. If the reasons are not so good then a polite discussion may occur. Until then I don't think you should be defending what may very well have been a mistake, unless of course you are his proxy or something.
