I seen this on the News, the MRAP's came loose and shifted all the weight to the back of the plane.

This is a reason why we should not carry armored vehicles on planes... That are not fit to carry them.

The cause was due the fact that the vehicles inside broke loose and roll backward....causing a shift of weight behind the center of gravity rearward....forcing a nose up angle of attack. Β That could not be corrected with any trim or power. Β The stall could not be prevented. Β The weight and balance on any cargo aircraft actually must be computed...as a fixed point inside the "payload" window before take off. Β But when the vehicles rolled rearward the pilots could not stop or prevent the fatal events.Β

Hauling MRAP---vehicles designed to protect against shock and explosion.

Not just tragic, but ironic.

According to the official report, the aircraft was at roughly 1,500 feet AGL when the cargo shifted (i.e. something wasn't secured properly).Β  The center of gravity shifted backward, pitching the aircraft's nose into the air.Β  That close to the ground, there was nothing the pilot could have done.

Also, it was noted that the crew informed the tower of the shift, and took all necessary action that they could during the crash. You can even see how the pilots managed to level the plane out just before impact. Those men died doing their job to the best of their abilities, and even in the face of certain death, they did not waver. Β
