Just a mini question, is that the normal connected to the multiply node that's connected to the displacement???Β 

IF YES, why not connecting it to the normal of ehh... let's say the diffuse/glossy shader instead?

connectingΒ  a normal texture to difuse or glossy normal ofΒ  are for creating group nodes.
