I've downloaded the widget from MTF, but I keep having problems with the two overlapping. And I get a question mark where my signal bars are supposed to be. Can you help me with this problem?

question mark on top left can be solved by creating a 320x480 transparent image in photoshop and saving it as Overlay.png then dropping that file in the "Date Widget" folder.
As for overlapping, you might running on an iPhone 4 or OS4, this is not compatible with those devices as for as I know.
