its a bit on the late side of giving this gift but you get it anywayI drawed and inked it on paper. that is probely wy some lines don't look right. there are probely more mistakes thoug.

I like the darker look to the entire drawing. The art itself is good, although I think that his right cheek (the right side line of his face which is to your left) looks wrong. Also, again, you still need to work on drawing hands/fingers; the knuckles on his hand are too flat and smooth, and, given the angle at which you have drawn the thumb, his other fingers should be visible. If you copy this pose with your hand, you will see what I mean. The back of his hair should also be visible; I think it would have looked better than just making it disappear into the background. In addition, I think you could have made his eye colour more fiery and intensified the look by adding a faint touch of orange/amber.
I like the gesture you decided to use, of the red face-paint being smudged across with the thumb. It makes him look older, along with the use of darker colours, which I suppose was your point. The shading is well done and his overall expression is good.
I find it rather interesting that you chose to draw Kai again for the occasion, two years in succession. He is not actually my 'favourite' Beyblade character, you know, although most people seem convinced that he is...
Anyway, good work overall.
I might as well add this to my 'Favourites'...since I have more reason to than anybody else, and...as a sign of appreciation for your effort. As I told you, there was no need to do this, but thank you again, anyway.

Maybe you should tell them why you used red so they know where it came from. To me, it seems like a time when a reference should be used to explain the idea.
Otherwise we can call it coincidence.
This is generally good colouring especially on the hair.
The only things I have a problem with are the pattern effects on the hair (I think it would make more of a statement if the hair were left smooth) and that line under his mouth which looks a little strange.
When you, or anyone leave descriptions limited by the fact things are unaccounted for, it gives me more to write about.

the idea of yousing red... I don't really have a big reason fore it. time of fore a change would be the best way to say it. probely a part was just curious how it would look like. .
you should explane the pattern effect becase I easly have no idea what that mean.
the line under his mouth I could a bit agree whit. I probely should have left whit only schading that part like I normaly do.

Ah, I just thought the red war paint represented the fact it's part of Phoenix Blaze's original character design, so the fact you used it for this seemed to fit perfectly.
By pattern effect... it's hard to explain, but I mean the multitude of lines that look a bit like grass texture on his hair. I just thought it would look better without them, however it was a good experiment to add that little bit extra in any case.
