Description I started this comic a long time ago, as the result of an inside joke between ~Cuddlesnowy and I from a mistranslation of Rayman Accompagnement Scolaire.

I won't bother explaining any further, it won't make any more sense anyway!

Heheheh, thanks, I actually recall starting that one a very long time ago, but only got around to finishing it recently.

Also, I must thank you for getting me back into my Rayman 'phase'. When you suggested I draw cousin Pierre, well, that got me watching the Rayman edutainment spinoff videos again, and back into the Rayman fandom!

👍: 1 ⏩: 1

Cuddlesnowy In reply to I-am-THEdragon [2013-11-08 14:16:21 +0000 UTC]

I noticed that my Pierre comment seemed to re-ignite the Rayman spark
Annoyingly, I haven't played Rayman in so long that I've got sloppy and keep dying. I need to get my game back into shape again. Maybe a pointless run through the Dream Forest would help...
And I still wish to get the Rayman CP playthrough online. I'm so tempted just to sneak a copy of the footage I managed to get onto one of the Uni computers and use the latest version of Adobe Premiere

I-am-THEdragon In reply to Cuddlesnowy [2013-11-08 14:22:50 +0000 UTC]

I remember when I stopped playing Rayman for a long time it took me a little while to get back into the rhythm of things. And yes, the Dream Forest is good for that!

Ah, the CP playthrough. I still look forward to that, there seems to be a lot about the Rayman 1 semi-canon I can learn from it! XD

D'ya think they'd let you do that? Or would you have to be reeeaaally sneaky?

Cuddlesnowy In reply to I-am-THEdragon [2013-11-08 14:30:42 +0000 UTC]

I suppose I could go into the library and do it on those computers in my spare time, but only if there are enough free, because I'd feel really bad stopping other students from working on assignments just for Rayman

Have you progressed at all in your game since your stuck in Picture City times?

I-am-THEdragon In reply to Cuddlesnowy [2013-11-08 14:33:57 +0000 UTC]

That sounds fair enough. My school library computers are rarely busy out of lesson hours but I don't know what your library is like.

I have indeed! In fact, I've completed Rayman 1! For a while I was at a complete loss as to what to do with myself after that, but then I realised it would be a great idea to do the whole thing again on a GBA emulator! And also, using Rayman designer to sit the Musician on fire and spikes. Yep, I feel I can accomplish things in my life once again. XD

The uni library is actaully 3 floors tall, all full of computers, so I don't really think it would be a problem. There would be times at my school where I'd be running around the school trying to find a computer room that wasn't in use. The best time was when a teacher booked a room for class use and told us all to go there, without coming herself (she had entrusted us as 6th form students). Howver, this particular clas, being the sort of people they were, took the opportunity to run off home. This meant I had an entire computer room to myself, and could at last do work with the speakers on, while goofing around on a swivel chair and singing Megaman music XD

Wow, well done! I've been an avid Rayman 1 fan since the age of 5 and I can't even claim to have done that . Might I recommend playing the Playstation or Saturn version (although both consoles are very finicky to set up a an emulator, particulaly the later) as I think they are the superior versions, especially over the PC and GBA ones (although you only get a nightmarish 5 continues O-O)

I-am-THEdragon In reply to Cuddlesnowy [2013-11-08 14:47:11 +0000 UTC]

Wow, your library sounds cool! I've had quite a few people tell me I would enjoy university, actually. Expecially if I'm studying courses I enjoy. And swivel chairs are just plain awesome, enough said! I'm currently the only person left in my English class, since I was the only year 11 in a class of year 12s who have now all finished their exams and graduated. So this gives me extra time to have one-on-one discussions with my teacher in preparation for the exams.

I will certainly look into those! I mainly went back to Rayman Advance for nostalgia, heheh.

And look, funny screenshots. imageshack.us/a/img707/7796/yt… imageshack.us/a/img9/9844/qw90…

That's lucky. Sort of reminds me of my position at the end of my ICT GCSES, in which no-one in the class could be bothered to work and spent the entire time throwing paper planes and making idiotic noises. In the end, my teacher decided that if these people weren't willing to do work it wasn't worth the effort teaching them, so basically the couple of students left in the class who were still trying to work got all the attention and extra help, which was exceptionally useful

I'm thinking of starting my game again with another port, even though I'm 88% of the way in, but I don't know yet. I'm just tired of glitches (except the glitches that enabled me to win boss fights with ease, those were amazing)

I-am-THEdragon In reply to Cuddlesnowy [2013-11-08 14:57:01 +0000 UTC]

Heh, that's a good idea, saving one's effort for those who actually appreciate it.

Yeah, I read about those crashes, I don't recall my DS ever doing that though. :U Ooh, how did those glitches help you win boss fights? That sounds like interesting glitches.

Cuddlesnowy In reply to I-am-THEdragon [2013-11-08 15:04:15 +0000 UTC]

I think most of the problems I've been having are the fault of Rayman Advance itself and not the DS. The best glitch I had was I died on the final phase of Space Mama, and when I respawned, her health bar didn't reset, which meant I could finish her off really quickly wihtout her going into the final phase of attack XD. Another amusing one (although I'm not sure if it counts as a glitch) was both Rayman and Mr. Skops died at the same time, and Skops started going into his dance routine with music as the Electoons were flying off the screen. I was really hoping it was going to count as a win for Rayman anyway, but it didn't

I-am-THEdragon In reply to Cuddlesnowy [2013-11-08 15:06:55 +0000 UTC]

I think I've heard of that first glitch before, and I think that second one happened to me when I fought Mr Skops. Although when I fought Mr Skops I defeated him in only a few tries. The part with the lava before the actual fight is much harder.

Cuddlesnowy In reply to I-am-THEdragon [2013-11-08 15:13:52 +0000 UTC]

You probably heard about the first one from me a couple of years back, I remember posting it on the glitches thread when it happens. Yeah, I wasn't too distressed when it counted as a win for Mr. Skops, since he is one of the easier bosses in the game.
As someone who has beaten the game, would you agree with the popular opinion that Space Mama is harder to defeat than Mr. Dark himself?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

I-am-THEdragon In reply to Cuddlesnowy [2013-11-08 15:15:40 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, definitely! The Mr Dark battle wasn't really as hard as I thought it would be. The only part that really bothered me was the bit with the fireballs, no idea how to dodge those!

For some reason I'm always highly amused when the final boss of a video game is somewhat anticlimatic compared to some of the difficulty levels elsewhere in the game. I've dubbed games where the penultimate boss is harder than the final boss as suffering 'The Space Mama Syndrome'. Rayman Raving Rabbids for the GBA (one of my favourite Rayman games, believe it or not) also suffers this fate

I-am-THEdragon In reply to Cuddlesnowy [2013-11-08 15:21:12 +0000 UTC]

The Space Mama Syndrome! That's a perfect name for it! I haven't played RRR on GBA, but I do recall playing my friend's copy of RRR2 on DS.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cuddlesnowy In reply to I-am-THEdragon [2013-11-08 15:24:27 +0000 UTC]

Isn't RRR2 on the DS just a mini game collection, much like it's bigger brother on the Wii? Rabbids 1 for the GBA is actually a 2D platformer game inspired by Rayman 1 and early concept art from when the main game was going to be more than a party game

I-am-THEdragon In reply to Cuddlesnowy [2013-11-08 15:32:21 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, if I recall correctly, it was a sidescroller, but with 3D graphics, and I don't think it was just minigames. But then again, I don't remember it very well. And yeah, I've got some of the art from RRR GBA saved to my Rayman references folder, that stuff is fiiiiiine!

I actually wrote a whole review on Rayman Raving Rabbids GBA, which I intend to put online along with my other reviews in the same series at some point. The only problem with them is you can tell what sort of a gaming mood I was in at the time of making each one, as they correspond with what game's I have beaten recently and have felt like making a review about. Every single one of them so far is a review of either a platformer game or a game with platformer elements, and after a while they start to decend into a worrying loop of Megaman reviews . But hey, one of those reviews got me a good grade in English Language last year, so I don't care

I-am-THEdragon In reply to Cuddlesnowy [2013-11-08 15:40:57 +0000 UTC]

I've never really been in the loop with game reviews and such, so I probably wouldn't be able to tell. XD And hooray for getting good grades for doing something cool!

I always write such short responses, but I guess I am feeling a bit simple-minded at the moment. XD

Cuddlesnowy In reply to I-am-THEdragon [2013-11-08 15:44:53 +0000 UTC]

I definately enjoy writing them more than I do reading them. You always have to take them with a pinch of salt because they are merely one person's opinion on a game. I hate it when people take reviews on places like IGN literally...

I-am-THEdragon In reply to Cuddlesnowy [2013-11-08 15:52:03 +0000 UTC]

Of course! And unfortunately, it seems the big reviewer names have the power to (Whether they intend it or not) tell gamers what they should and shouldn't play based on their own opinions.
