That texture and how she blends with the darkness is exquisite! The hands break the composition quite a bit in my opinion. In fact it's the left hand that breaks the line created by the person and the upper right hand.

thanks a lot for your insightful comment but you got it exactly the reverse - the upper hand is a left one and the other one is a right hand. and to me, the composition is perfect, because you have not only a line but something to support it from below. and if we lose the formal way of seeing it, regarding contents this is just what i wanted to do - a hand directed towards her and another one trying to grab something from hell knows where. maybe the lower hand is crying for help and the upper one is reaching out to grasp it but the woman appeared and shifted it all. and maybe both hands are reaching out to touch her. and just maybe, it's a wandering spirit emerging from the void and changing the course of things, a Dr. Faustus in female form, wanted by the Devil and delivered by God himself..

Hmm you have a valid point there. The hands can be interpreted in many ways and the girl just might not be the protagonist of the piece, but something else, intefering with what is happening. A ghost, emerging from the shadows. Geister faust...ghosts of faust? The look on her face leaves questions floating in the air.
