I haven't gotten around to SS yet either. I need to get on that.
I did buy Hyrule Warriors though, and its stupid fun, especially most of the crazy alternate weapons, like the windwaker for Zelda, or the Great Fairy for Link, also Link on Epona. It's just so much stupid fun, and the music is glorious.

I see both sides of the argument but my Wii U has seen a sever under-use outside of playing Wii games in the nearly 2 years I've had it, so when it cropped up I took a chance and as I said, stupid fun. The story is weak as wet paper towels but it gives us a side of Zelda characters that we don't really see outside of smash bros, and that is them being complete badasses. Personally I'm cool with us getting something fun like this. Maybe it doesn't really suit Zelda, but personally I feel like it was more a play to try and revive the Dynasty Warriors formula outside of the hardcore franchise fans.
Bottom line is really that it's got me playing my Wii U MUCH more, and that makes it alright by me. But of course, all of that is just one fat, hairy, bearded man's opinion.
Side note: as weard and the right stick layout is, the Wii U pro controller is really solid.

Yeah the Pro Controller is pretty boss.
Yeah that's all very well and good, but it's just not for me. I have no time for how kawaii-desu it's gotten and the misuse of the Triforce was really a kick in the teeth, it's like they completely dismissed the lore. But as long as gameplay is fun for you, knock yourself out!

I like it (I couldn't ever criticize a Zelda game), it's not my favorite, but it's okay. It's really beautiful to look at, how everything looks like a giant watercolor picture. Can't wait to have the time to play it again (:
Are you far in the game ? Do you like it so far ?

Unfortunately I'm not too impressed with this one, I actually find that the artstyle gives me headaches as I can't focus on anything because of the watercolour style. Blurry things just aren't kind to my eyes. xD Also the motion controls are a bit flawed, really sad I can't play with a Gamecube controller.
We've just helped the Water Dragon and are about to get the first flame. We aim to complete this game so I guess I'll have a proper opinion once it's over!

Hahaha, well you see, I don't see it as a Zelda game at all. I wrote a lengthy opinion on another comment in this deviation if you want to read it, but basically I'm not impressed. xD The weakest in the series, for sure.

Groose was a large disappointment for me. I have seen a lot of fanart and the like, and it was mostly pretty funny and entertaining. Then I played the game and he just wasn't all he's made out to be. The funniest thing so far was the whole "Grooseland" thing but that's just good timing, and the music really helped too.
I'm the same as you actually, I prefer more serious Zeldas. I guess the difference is that the other Zeldas are actually princesses with duties and whatever, and this one was just a regular girl, but holy hell did they Mary Sue her up. My favourite Zelda is actually OoT Zelda.
Impa's role was welcomed but I found the whole time travelling thing a little... lame? Like, they did it once in OoT and then just abused it afterwards.

Hahaha yeah I guess so. But here is a video of the funniest scene in SS:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=cu-vQwβ¦
Watch it all the way until the Grooseland part, it's worth it.
Yes I see what you mean about ST, I agree with you there. They could have simply... you know... made her likeable??
Oh, I see you didn't play it all the way through. xD Yeah Impa can time travel and stuff, I can see where it's going and I'm not impressed hahaha.

Hmmmmm...
I can't say I'm very impressed. I want to be fair about it all the same.
For a long time I never had the chance to play because I didn't have a Wiimote. Now I do, and we rented this game to try it out... I was always skeptical but since playing it, I've found that all my fears were for a reason.
I find character design ugly. Link is ugly. Zelda is ugly. In fact Zelda has this sly-face that really irks me, and Link looks so stupid, I can't take him seriously. I find their relationship to be quite forced, but I understand because Nintendo wanted to make this an origin story, so fair enough. I thought Groose would make this game a little more bearable but he spends most of his time crying and his funny scenes are too few and far between.
The lore is also a bit forced, I feel there was absolutely no need for this Hylia goddess when we already have Din, Nayru and Farore.
The art style irritates me. And I mean, it irritates my eyes. I hate this "watercolour paint style" because it makes me strain my sight and provokes a headache. I know that the Wii wasn't a powerful machine, but hell, I could see further and in much more detail with OoT on the N64. I wanted to at least appreciate the environmental aspects but I can't even do that because they're too blurry.
The controls are mediocre. Motion controls as the ONLY method to play this game was a bad move, because it's flawed. But despite that, the game is incredibly easy and I've found no challenge in it so far. The game is also too linear and there's no freedom to roam and explore, and sidequests are lacking. There's not a lot of meat on the bone, I guess.
I've always said that SS was the final step into "desu" territory and I was right. There's a trend going on in what's popular in Japan, and it's heavily influenced by anime culture. Zelda in SS has an anime girl personality. She's bossy, rude, and generally dim-witted. This is seen as cute and attractive in Japan and anime for some reason, but for me it is most off-putting. This Zelda is the most unlikeable in all the series, and I'm disappointed because usually I'm all like "Princess Zelda, heck yeah!". Between SS and then the Lana anime fanfic character in Hyrule Warriors (thank god that's not canon), I'm losing faith in female representation in the Zelda series. Ilia was a bit annoying and the first step towards "a female character that bullies Link but it's meant to be cute", but she was bearable. Plus Midna made up for that, I love Midna.
All the same, some parts of the game are nice. The little Mia creature is cute, and the Loftwings are also cute. I think their bond with their owners is nice, but it's hardly an original idea. Some characters I genuinely like, like the two I drew here and I really like the Gondo guy who owns the scrap shop. The item shop-keeper is pretty funny too, and I'm quite charmed by the demon who lives under Skyloft.
I suppose I'd say this game is okay, but only if you don't expect it to be a Zelda game. It's generally disappointing if you try to see it as a Zelda game.
Sorry for the long post, I just have much to say on this. xDDD

Never apologize to me for long posts XD I love them.
Well, I don't think there's anything else I need to say! It's like you wrote everything I actually think about the game. We share the same view on it!
For me, the worst turn-off sure is the linear world. I hate the fact we can't wander as we wish to. I loved the huge open spaces in Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time, and I sure despise the fact you have to always return to the sky. Like, you're in the forest and want to go to the mountain? Fly to the sky, ride your bird and fall in the volcano. That's really, really lame. I somewhat loved to walk from point A to point B in the other games. And I agree the graphics aren't as beautiful as I expected either. Let's face the facts, the Wii is quite more powerful than the N64. Yet, I think Majora's Mask environments look so much better than those in Skyward Sword.
Oh-my-God-don't-get-me-started-on-Link's-face Those fleshy lips and sassy lashy eyes... Is he some kind of hooker or what!?
And Zelda's tsundere attitude... I wish I could just smack her and say "Stop acting like a bitch!" I also wish I could shave her ugly bangs
And I also agree with you: Ilia was annoying. I totally hate her, and yet I just love Midna They both are bitches, but in different ways. As Ilia goes "Did you hit your horse? Link, you're so inconsiderate!! Oooh Link please forgive me I've been stupid.... WHERE THE HELL IS EPONA I WANNA MARRY THAT FREAKING ANIMAL BLAH BLAH BLAH" and Midna is more like "You're pathetic and useless but I need you, so come on I'll help you"... I think the Princess of Twilight is much more adorable in her own way.
No no no, do not lose faith in females in the Zelda series. Lose your faith in female representations of Nintendo. Did you know Nintendo teamed up with Playboy to promote Bayonetta 2? I've seen the pictures... It quite pisses me. I don't mind seeing some skin at some points, but not when it comes to Nintendo. Here's the link to the article in case you haven't seen it yet.
And about that Hylia goddess... I still don't understand her purpose. Nath explained it to me twice already, and it's even more a shame that our Skyward Sword game is in French (to which I can't complain "Oh I didn't get it, my English isn't perfect"). Anyway, he told me Hylia was like Din, Farore and Nayru's "employee" of some sort... but I think he wasn't quite sure about his own explanations XD So yeah, we're still unsure about that point. Is Hylia working for the three Golden Goddesses, or is she THE ultimate Goddess?

Hahahaha looks like we have the exact same opinion and experience with SS then!!
Yeah the linear world and graphics are a massive turn off, in fact I get headaches with the blur effect! Their characters really need to be more likable too, god Link is just so frickin STUPID and he just wanders around with his mouth open like Megan Fox in like all of her movies and I'm like "ugh this is the first time I do not like Link what is wrong with me". :/ And Zelda, yeah, she's bitchy and ugly and that just makes a poor combination for a video game. She'd fit right into a manga though, because that's obviously what she's based off of.
Ahh I will try not to lose faith in Zelda women because... we still have all the greats! OoT Zelda is my favourite Zelda, also Midna, Telma (I love her attitude, she got sass!), even the cute little girl at the fishing place in Twilight Princess, and her older sister with the afro! Amazing. xD
Also can we just talk about how creepy Fii is? Like, did you see her with her open mouth while singing? How's that for horror material!
I did see the Bayonetta thing actually, and although it's good cosplay, I didn't see the point in it all. xD I mean, she's a sexy character and I personally like the games. I know a lot of women hate the series because it seemingly objectifies women, but actually it's more parody level and as such, I'm fine with it. I don't see why it had to be in Playboy at all. xD
Yeah right, who the hell even is Hylia and why have we never heard of her until now? And way to go to Mary-Sue Zelda all the more, giving her special blood in her veins and a super unique magical background that only she has. God. Zelda being chosen by the Triforce was really good enough, I like the idea of her just being a royal person who's wise and strong enough to bear a Triforce piece. I get the assumption that Hylia is the "boss" of the other three goddesses, so who knows. :/

Megan Fox omg X'''D I feel the same way. I just hate how Link and Zelda look like. And their personnalities don't even fit them.
Ooooh I loved Midna too! I just can't decide which Princess Zelda I like the most. I think I equally like the ones from OOT, TP and WW. Man, Tetra was just awesome But I think my all time female Zelda character is Agitha There's something really cute yet creepy about her. She's the cutest little girl with blonde pigtails dressed in a 'lolita' styled dress... who lives alone in a backalley, letting grown up men bring her bugs... dafuq? O .o'
Oh gosh. Okay. I'll be honest about Fii. She's ugly, useless, and much more annoying than Navi. THERE. I said it! Navi = sweet talking fairy. Fii = ... a singing/dancing sword spirit... Once again: dafuq? XD "Master. There is a 100% chances the thing you are looking at is a Kikwi." Well, thank you, Captain Obvious. And when I say 'useless', I MEAN it. She points the most obvious things, and when you really need her help, she needs more time to gather informations. What!? Just forget about those informations, I'll just search for an online walkthrough
Yeah, I don't see any point in teaming up with Playboy either XD I personnaly never played the games. I guess I shall give it a try at some point
Oh, I wished you could eventually explain me who the hell Hylia is, but you also seem to be pretty unsure about it XD Screw that Hylia gal. I stick to Din, Farore and Nayru.
"The Legend of Princess Mary-Sue" is a title that would suit this game much better.

Oh my, hahaha X'D It almost sounds a bit frightening! XD
Well, in French it's something like "Je sais que tu as des insectes", but since I live in QuΓ©bec (and everyone knows Canadian French is a bit funky XD), it sounds more like "Je l'sais qu't'as des bebites" now try to pronounce it LOL
