In the aftermath, after all has been said and doneWe sit silently, wishing we had held our tongues
Those words that we held tight, slipped out of our grasps
How we wish we could, but can not take them back
The pain is driven deep, almost impossible to bare
The damage has been done, and can not be repaired
We go our seperate ways, neither looking back
The path which you once lit, slowly fades to black
As the years pass by, my heart has finally healed
Though the memories remain , the pain I can not feel
I can finally smile, I can finally carry on
Even though a part of you will never truly be gone
