This artwork was done for 2023 Animatsuri art competition (the characters on the piece submitted for the competition were modified to match event's mascots) . I got the first place

Time wise, it is done before "By the Pond" and "Nightbloom".

Animatsuri was the first con I ever attended and it holds a special place in my heart. It was the first time I cosplayed. It was the first time I was on stage with cosplay. It was the first time I won a cosplay competition. So, this year I was actually dreaming of attending it (but logistically it was impossible as it is held in another city and with the baby..). At least it also made me think about the art competition and it was motivating enough to try drawing again after this long stop (due to having a baby). Oo my.. I was rusty. I was annoyed - Photoshop had changed so much. Where are the brushes I used to use? (I am still not sure where they went. There was this one brush that came with Photoshop that was my go-to-brush and I just cannot find it anymore.. still missing it..)

The scene and the idea is nothing too complex. The two main characters of Animatsuri, dressed in Japanese style clothes (as it is Japanese pop culture con) exchanging Christmas gifts (the topic of the competition was "Christmas/Halloween").

Took me about a week working on it every day (I was off from work). I re-learned a lot and just loved the emotion of drawing again. And as my time off continued, in next two weeks I did first "By the Pond" and then "Nightbloom"

Anyways, before the year ends, I decided I will better upload this one too otherwise it will be forgotten to collect dust..
