almost finished with the head..... i admire the feathers around the eyes in this, but feel i got a bit lazy as I moved upward. i'll have to go back and fix that..... anyway, after i finish the head, I have to do the body..... sad face. i just want to be finished. it'll be a while before I draw feathers again after this.......
values were increased in photoshop CS5

Tools: 4H, 2H, HB, 2B, and 4B graphite pencils, kneaded eraser, dry eraser pad, flat watercolor brush, PSCS5
Medium: graphite

also, for those of you who are super critique-y (couldn't think of the right word lol), please keep in mind i'm in 9th grade and still have a lot to learn before you look for perfection. i'm not discouraging critique, just go a bit easy in respect of my age thx

this is amazing! especially considering you're only in ninth grade... wow. i'm watching this, can't wait to see the final product. jw, do you have a reference pic or are you drawing from memory?

thanks a lot for your input!
at first, i did use a reference image, but only for the beak and eyes. the feathers i did from memory, though i don't think there's an owl like this in real life. i made the feathers look more fluffy and in tufts. and feathers on owls in real life have patterns, while mine don't.

thx, I'm glad that you are watching it! unfortunately, i have a long way to go before i finish, so there will probably be several more WIP submissions before the final thing is uploaded.

Well if the attention to detail that you put into the head is anything to go by then the final product will be amazing and well worth the wait.
