Description
Your slender tail
moves you sleekly through
the thick weeds without a care.
I see your furry face,
brown and sleek,
before you are gone
a flash of that slender tail
diving silently
to your watery cold sanctuary
only ripples hinting that you were there
as my yellow kayak drifts by
untroubled through the weeds,
I stare,
wanting you to return
and as if on cue
I see your face again
before that tail steers you away
safe to the banks of the lake
where my kayak can not follow.
