Coco is a pretty cool character. I always enjoy the female characters that look cool and carry a ridiculously over-sized weapon, or are small and can punch through a brick wall.

I think she is one of the few second year students (with her team of course) we get to see in the show that at least says they are not first years. The good news about this is that if she is a year ahead of Team RWBY who is made up of Weiss, Blake and Yang who are all noted by the show's material to be 17 then Coco and Velvet are canonically at least 18 years of age at the start of the show and possibly 19 by the time the 4th season started.
