Description The following is another excerpt from the journal of Princess Zelda, coming three days after returning to her time:

"The Song of Healing is a strange work of magic indeed. It does not seem to 'heal' people in any physical sense as some may assume from its name. Instead, the tune was created to soothe the souls of the tormented and broken, though it does not seem to matter the extent of this affliction, as records detail a deceased Goron warrior's restless spirit being freed upon hearing the song while also it can lift the spirits of those who had nothing more than a bad day. I have played the Song of Healing around the kingdom more times than I would like to admit, perhaps if not for my well-known status as princess of Hyrule I would have been seen as little more than a traveling bard with a rather exquisite and arguably bawdy fashion sense. While the idea of the princess making her way around the kingdom playing a tune on her harp to lift the spirits of all those she encounters must be great for the morale of the kingdom and to an extent my own public image, I cannot help but feel a tinge of confusion at the lack of significant changes brought on by the Song of Healing. The royal family has long possessed the magic to create magical gateways sensitive to music, with the very tune played to me in my childhood as a lullaby being considered a 'key' to these gateways. Similar cases can be noted having been used by other cultures such as the Zora and Gerudo, and I cannot help but shake a clairvoyant notion that the Song of Healing acts as a key to a door. I do not yet know where or what this door could be, nor am I quite certain on who first created the magic tune to begin with. It is late, and I spent an entire day walking through the Southern forests in a pair of high-heeled boots, nothing will dissuade me from the warm embrace of my bed. I should sleep on the matter some more and perhaps I will find something."

The princess wrote more the following day:

"I have entered a rabbit hole I cannot fully comprehend yet. I believe a chronological description of today would be best. A nightmare struck me late last night. The sensation of falling gripped me as I was immersed in total darkness. Strange colorful images began to fly past me as I plummeted; abstract shapes, depictions of clocks, a drawing of the Ocarina of Time, but most concerningly were the faces. They appeared to be nothing more than a child's drawings of the faces of Gorons, Deku and Zora, but they unnerved me more than they had the right to. The final image that flew by now sticks in my mind, it had the shape of a heart, but its sides were lined with spikes and horns adorned its top, and a vague face with large eyes on the heart's surface angrily glared at me as I fell by. A laugh that made the skin crawl echoed throughout the abyss, as the face of the man I referred to as the Happy Mask Salesman came into view. I knew he was creepy from the moment I met him, and I was aware that there was something off about him. The eternal grin on his face did not move as his voice rung: 'go to the Zora's River, and have faith.' I then awoke.

I had no official business to attend to today, and upon fully preparing and clothing myself I wasted little time in heading for the Zora River. The uncanny feeling imprinted on me by the dream soon faded as I made my way to the home of our aquatic allies. The sun rose high in the sky, basking our beautiful land in its glorious incandescence. The journey would have perhaps taken hours for an individual on foot normally, but journeys across great distances are usually of no concern for the magically inclined. By the grace of the goddess Farore I had little trouble traversing the road from Hyrule Castle to Zora's Domain with a few warps, albeit opting to take a few sections of the road on foot to enjoy the day's weather.

I was welcomed warmly by the Zora as I entered their domain. 'Have faith', the Mask Salesman said. I entered the caves of Zora's Domain and was kindly directed to the shrine of the goddess Nayru. It was Nayru who left behind the Triforce of Wisdom that resides within me, and I credit Nayru's love as having saved my backside from a great deal of potential punishments, a point I always attempt to convey to her when I pray at holy places corresponding to her. I was led to a well-lit cavern flooded with a gently flowing pool and a singular rocky island at its center with a carved stone altar and some pillars bearing the symbol of the Zora Sapphire. Not wishing to get wet, I warped to the shrine and looked around the room. The cavern was fed by many cascading waterfalls along the walls that flowed into the pool. I had also come to notice that a great many of the Zora had gathered to see what I was doing. I understood that an unanounced visit by the kingdom's princess would be sure to raise some eyebrows, but I did not go to Zora's Domain to give a concert, and as I could not help but feel as my face began to flush, I turned my back as I pulled out my harp. I do not think they considered it a rude gesture, as they did not seem to mind staring at me from behind. I played the Song of Healing in its entirety, and for a moment I began to forget that it was me plucking the strings of the harp and a profound out of body experience overcame me as I could nearly see myself in the third person standing at the shrine in the center of the cavern. The moment did not last, and upon the tune's completion I found myself clutching my forehead with a gloved palm. The Zora seemed to enjoy the performance, as the sound of splashing and clapping occupied the space behind me. The Zora had always been a musically-inclined race, and it brings me joy to have been able to impress them with my harp-playing capabilities. However, a sourceless purple aura surrounded the shrine and a dizzying magical warping occurred upon the altar. 'Thank you for that, you should take this.' A disembodied voice reverberated across the cavern. The magical effects had just as quickly vanished, and something was left on the altar for me..."
