Joshua Helos (simply called “Josh”) is not a true angel—yes he is a man with wings but he is not an angel in the sense that he is an agent of God. He is a long time family friend of the Kindersons, and has been a devoted servant for years. Josh is in charge of security for the estate and is also the one in charge of the tournament.

History: Josh, for the early part of his life, was a wanderer. He doesn’t remember his family, or even if he had one. When he was 46, he was employed by Harold T. Kinderson, who is Elisha’s great-great-great-great grandfather. Having nothing better to do, Josh agreed, and has worked for them ever since. He has grown immensely attached to the family, and despite seeing several generations come and go, he remains loyal to them. Josh did not have a last name (or does not remember it) and gave himself the surname “Helos” over the years.

Personality: Josh is very friendly by nature and often puts forth a very care-free, almost jokester sort of attitude. He is charming, empathetic, and a loyal friend. Despite his prankster attitude, he takes his job as head of security very seriously. He takes anyone with malicious intent as a threat, and he can turn in a heartbeat if he senses someone wishes harm upon the Kinderson family or their estate.

Abilities: His wings of course grant him the ability of flight, but he is not an agile flier like a peregrine falcon nor is he an endurance flier like vultures or eagles. He is a happy medium between both; flying for as long as three hours at a time but also able to maneuver fairly well without crashing. His wings are naturally very heavy, weighing close to fifty pounds. His skeletal structure is much lighter than a normal human’s, enabling him to fly, but at the same cost he is a lot more fragile. He ages a lot slower than normal humans. Despite being over two hundred years old, he only appears as old as a middle-aged man.

He is by no means a push-over, though. Josh is trained in several forms of martial arts such as Jujitsu, Karate, and Judo. In addition, he knows a wide range of self-defense techniques. Josh also has very powerful magical capabilities. While the full extent of his powers is unknown, he is capable of producing very powerful bursts of energy in the form of yellow light. Josh is also skilled in seals and curses, and possesses a deep knowledge of rune magic. Josh uses these runes for more powerful offensive or defensive spells, which serve a variety of functions such as shielding and attacking spells. He normally reserves his magic for severe threats only.

Fighting Style: Josh is typically not the violent sort of guy and will usually attempt to coax a person out of fighting. If he cannot do so, then he will not hold back. He will battle his opponent into submission using his knowledge of martial arts and self-defense. Josh hates using weapons; he prefers his own fists over guns or knives.

Strengths: Josh is naturally a very likeable guy, and always puts forth a friendly face. His years living with the Kindersons gave him quite a bit of experience socializing with many types of people so he knows how to appeal to the masses. The ladies see him as incredibly charming and quirky while men regard him as a professional, polite, and entertaining friend. His fighting skills, while a bit rusty, remain something to keep in mind if you ever find yourself going toe-to-toe with him.
