This is some fan art for another one of my favorite animes.
This one is called Shakugan No Shana (Burning-Eyed Shana).
One day average middle school student Yuuji Sakai is walking home from school. Without warning, time comes to a halt. Yuuji seems to be the only one not affected and all the people around him have small, blue flames in their chests. Two monsters appear and begin to siphon off everyones flames. Yuuji watches in horror as the flames disappear. Then, a girl about his age with fiery red hair and peircing red eyes appears and fights the monsters away. When it is all over, time moves normally again. But Yuuji notices that the people involved have much smaller flames within them. He confronts the girl and she tells him her name is Shana. She explains that she is a flame haze (a gaurdian of sorts). She tells him that the monsters were feeding on the existances of the people around him. She continues by saying that once a person's existance has been taken away that it is temporarily replaced by a torch. As the torchlight becomes smaller, those who knew the person begin to forget who they were until the torch runs out and the person is completly forgoten. Yuuji is a special kind of person called a Mistes. Which means that there is some kind of treasure within his body that allowed him to escape the time freeze and see the existances of others.
There is much more to Yuuji being a mistes but i don't want to spoil it. lol
