Description A simple deviantID of me. Thanks to who taught me how to make the ID less pixel-y!

I'm a HUGE fan of ice cream (can't you see why my "eyes" are looking at my left hand? )and I like sunsets... Purple's my favourite colour and I like stars as well...

This would be my ID till I can think of something for T92 to create... You remembered to help me right?

ahhhhhh!!! that is SO great!! and awesome ID!! way cool!!

so good!! yes!! resizing can be a hassle. the trick is to remember that once a document has been saved in a small size, it changes the pixles and cannot be made bigger without gross distortion. At least, that is, with bitmap images.

the opposite of a bitmap image is a vector image, where the opposite is true. A vector image can be resized as large or as small without any kind of distortion at all. which is why they are so popular. Flash is a good example of a vector program. I use vector whenever I ink my pics, then I move them into another paint program to be colored.

Okay!! I found it Yup!! I see your problem.... if you take a snapshot you can't make it bigger, only smaller

*but why mon-mothma? why? *

Because the picture only has that many pixels to begin with. You can't add more to them.
By enlargening the original size you're forcing/stretching the pixels to become more, but they can't, so they just become larger pixels.

If you want to try again, take a new screenshot of your character but this time don't resize it.

1. When you take your shot make sure it will be saved as a TIFF format. That's very high quality res.
2. Then, when you manipulate it, don't change the size.
3. And when you save it. Save it as the highest JPEG you can

I hope this helps you Icy Keep me informed, I'm here for ya!

Notta problem. It's better to ask than to never know and pretend Also, when you're not sure what something means try a google search like this------> define:tiff or whatever it is that you need defining/clarification.

TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) is an industry standard file format developed for the purpose of storing high-resolution bit-mapped, gray-scale, and color images.

Your programs should give you several ways to save your files. TIFF is a high quality saving setting If you save your pics as TIFFs, you should have less pixelation worries.

How do you save it in TIFF?

Well, when you take your screen cap shot, you need to save it.... let's see.... do you have a mac or PC?? Either way it's pretty much the same...so;

go to File

press Save As

what shows up for saving options

Nothing shows up for saving options. I don't have a mac and bro's PC is currently kaput. I use a laptop...

I use a HP laptop. When I do my South Park ID, I use the function + print screen button to take a screenshot of the entire screen. Then I open programs --> accessories --> paint. I paste the screenshot into Paint and it saves it into a Bitmap Image.

After that, I edit the B.I. with Macromedia Fireworks. I erase away all the unnecessary stuff. I enlarge the pic to fill the space and save it as a JPEG.

hey, icy!! hey, mon mothma!!

got a note from mon mothma to help. Here I am!! hope I can.

I went to the south park site, made an ID and then followed the same steps as you and got fuzzy results. (same program's, everything.)
I then did it again refining the steps and I think you'll be much better pleased!!

heres what I did.

1: take another screen shot of the south park ID (if you saved the original that might work) and put it into paint.

2:this time, use the "save as" menu and save the pic as a PNG.

3: open the pic in Fireworks.

4: Crop the document until it is just the south park figure.

5: save the document.

6: using a COPY of the document (just in case ) resize the pic. If it is around 362 width (thats what I was able to get) you can get it up to 462 width without much distortion. save.

7: open the resized document in paint

8: save as a jpeg.

9: check your work by opening the jpeg in fireworks.

If theres no fuzzy, then it should work fine on DA!!

hope this helps

I'm stuck at step 4. How do you crop? I've never used the crop tool before...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kingmukatan In reply to IcyAshford [2007-09-15 04:52:11 +0000 UTC]

easy!!

1: use the marque tool (hot key "M") to select the part of the document you wish to keep.
(do this by clicking at the corner of what you want to select, then, with the mouse still clicked down, pull the cursor over the area you want to keep)

2: go to >EDIT> Crop Document (its near the bottom of the menu)

the computer will erase everything but your selected area
