Friends DO let friends drive home DRUNK

She has seen it happen before her eyes in her sleep, but she hasn’t come fast enough to stop it. She slowly advanced toward the compact car. The right front side was completely smashed inward, the engine sticking up into the inside of the vehicle. A woman had driven it. She saw that the lady was dead. The truck driver who hit the girl was standing, looking, as well. He had no phone and no contact. The truck barely suffered a dent from the head-on collision.

As she walked toward the smashed car, her long skirt dragged behind her on the ground, going into it. Her legs moved, but she still seemed ghostly. She tilted her head, approaching. The door to the driver’s seat has been blown off. It lay about 50 feet away from the accident, the window rolled down, an arm stuck underneath.

Blood was spreading from the arm and the severe wounds on the driver.

She leaned in slowly, getting a good look at the girl inside. Her head was against the steering wheel, her right arm not there. Spikes of the car skeleton and engine had flown into her and killed her. Three places.

Her face was turned right, her eyes only half closed, her lips slightly parted. Her face was also bleeding. There were lots of scratches along her torn shirt and even her back. Something sharp flew by at one time or another.

As she looked closer, she noticed her hair underneath the blood. It was a beautiful light brown color, like honey, separated at the left side. Her bangs fell on her face neatly, despite the mess around her.

And suddenly, she knew, her lips parting to form the girl’s name.

“Siera…”

“NOOOOOOO!”

The young girl was held back as she violently attempted to run to the accident scene. The place has been surrounded by cones and officers were regulating traffic around the road.

The truck driver was being asked questions.

Sam, who came and identified the victim of the accident, was explaining what she saw, telling the exact same thing the driver of the truck was.

“NO! SIERA!! GOD, NOOO!!”

“Darn it, Anna, you’re not supposed to go near there! I know it’s horrible, but you have to try to relax!”

Both Saria and Amber were holding the 15-year-old girl back. Tears ran down her cold cheeks, burning her eyes and skin with salty trails. Soon her strength would wane and she would collapse onto the pavement like a rag.

Amber’s daughter, who has, with Amber’s help, proven to the officers she can be used in place of the detectives and testers, was examining Siera’s cold metal grave up close. Not all the blood has dried up, and Ayumi has taken a small sample. She tested it for the obvious thing: some kind of chemical influence.

After a few moments she came back to the trio. Anna has quieted down, but was still struggling, weeping quietly.

“Sake ga nomimashita yo… Yuube. Paatii ni ikimasendeshita nee?”

Anna stopped struggling.

“Sake? …. Ne, hai… paatii ni ikimashita. Yuube. Kenkai no paatii deshita…”

Ayumi nodded.

“hai. Yopparai unten o shimashita. Gomenasai.”

Anna went limp and nodded back weakly.

“Hai,” she whispered. “Arigatou….”

“So she died of drunk driving?” Saria asked quietly, her soft blond-streaked hair flowing in the wind lightly.

Amber nodded, her white bangs flowing a bit more heavily. “Appears so. She must have taken more glasses than she normally would.”

“Wasn’t Malone at the party?” Anna asked suddenly, her head coming up. Now Amber and Saria had the job of holding Anna’s limp body up.

Sam came up, being finished with the questioning.

“I’m not sure…. She drove there alone, nobody was picking her up,” Saria said, turning slightly to Sam. “Did you see Frank Malone at the party?”

Sam was also a police officer, like Siera was. Sam was a Special Forces officer, however. Siera was like a bodyguard to Frank Malone, a detective. They have been dating for a bit. Siera lost Frank’s baby at about a month, about a month ago.

“No… I asked about him, but he must have not wanted to come or was busy.”

“You didn’t stop Siera, Sammie?” Anna asked quietly.

“I went back early. There wasn’t much to do, I don’t consume food and such. I went back home, fell asleep… Got into the mind of the truck driver. His name is Mitch Geoffrey, by the way.”

“I see….”

“Well… Can’t we bring her back?” Amber asked rather nervously.

“Because of the incident in Hell… and with Amaii… Not if she went to heaven.” Anna slumped back down.

“Can you find out?”

“I can try to bring her back. But I think she went to Heaven.”

“I don’t know…” Saria mused. “She killed quite a lot of people.”

“So we’re praying she went to Hell?” Amber laughed slightly. “Kind of unusual, isn’t it?”

“Maybe I can feel her,” Sam said from the side.

Anna looked up at her. “What do you mean?”

“I can send my mind to different realms,” Sam said without emotion, just as a fact. “I’ll just need a portal of some kind. I’ll take care of it. You should all get home… Take her with you, maybe.”

With that, Sam nodded her goodbye and melted into the pavement, leaving no clue that she was ever there.

“She’s right,” Saria commented.

“But how are we going to get her out of there from under the police’s noses?” Amber glanced toward the broken car.

Anna broke free of the women’s weak grip and walked toward the car. It wasn’t Siera’s. Anna guessed it was one of the police department’s unmarked cars. At least she was smart enough to take a car and not her fast blood-red motorcycle.

The girl reached in and, acting upon a strange impulse, stroked the older woman’s dead cheek. She closed her eyes slowly, one by one. Then black fog spread into Siera’s legs and consumed them. Her body and limp left arm followed. Her head was last, to which she said, “Either way, I’ll heal your body together, so you can sleep peacefully.”

The arm under the broken-off door also vanished into black fog.
