Description For the seventeenth time
   in our six month relationship
you are sat opposite me,
staring into my eyes over the bleached wood of the table
and you’re telling me that you’re leaving.

I’m trying not to listen,
convincing myself you don’t mean it
like every other time,
     except, something is different
The tone of your voice is all wrong,
and deep down I know this is the end.

It’s like you’ve caught me while I’m still half asleep
and the whole world feels like a fantasy land,
   nothing is sinking in
      the way it ought to,
and my heart has been boarded shut.

I know people fall in and out of love
every single day,
but how can you stop loving me,
      when I still adore you?

I've been through the exact same thing...only it was a five month relationship and it was four times, which is still pretty turbulent if you ask me. Though I'm sure the seventeen reference is an exagerration. Like in the poem, he's moved on and forgotten about me, and I can't say the same for myself.
