It’s not easy to get me excited about photography, having been overexposed, but this one is a real gem.
I think first and foremost it’s the composition. Other than being perfectly balanced, the three main lines of the track (instead of two) are wonderful. Unexpected and very 'graphic'. Then there is the gentle dip at the horizon followed by the tree. Perfect harmony.
There is also a very painterly look and feel to this one (I thought it was a painting looking at the thumb). The muted tones, ‘limited palette’ of colors and the warm glow of the horizon all contribute into making this an understated masterpiece.
