basically ever since they saw this... fans got super hyped about a GOLDEN BONNIE OAKMKDM,SCNFAFKLJA .... and all that shit... i don't give two shits about phone guy saying he's golden bonnie which probably was scripted to make him say something wrong... since the company knows him as springtrap.
but... it's pretty interesting of a story... sooo... honestly alot of people would research this shit....

Why are in fazbear fright chica, foxy and freddy's phantom, but not Bonnie's one?
I know, this is a little illogical, the only thing that they have in common is that they're both bunnies
But the bonnie that you mean is the newest, and springtrap was made much years before
Also the design changed in the years that fazbear's inc. made those animatronics (like, if you see fnaf freddy and fnaf2 freddy, not toy but freddy, you wil see that the design is actually different)
and more! Springtrap is actually really wasted, so we can't know how was his actual design (we only know that he had maybe a black bow tie or something like that from his sprite)
so yeah. . . it's only my Idea, but they can also be two different characters as you say, Scott Cawthon didn't telled anything about springtrap origins

He's unknown... and if it was bonnie i'd be kind of pissed... i'd rather have a new character instead of another generation of bonnie... cause it's ridiculous.

Tho he certainly looks like Bonnie, and as said earlier - it's basically a Bonnie suit that was supposed to be worn by people. But it's well, a spring trap.

because in game, phone guy refers to springtrap as Spring Bonnie, and they look different because springtrap was designed to be worn by a human and needed to be lighter, thus the smaller head

Technically you could see Springtrap as Bonnie's ancestor, if that mini game hints at anything it seem that Springtrap and Golden Freddy were the original animatronics before the others came.
