Yeah, I got so used to CG that I forgot how much I loved using colored pencils. The trick to getting smooth color is using at least 4 colors per area, and to use a lighter color or white over top.

I've often tried a similar kind've thing. Some of my characters have quite a few restylings as a result.

It was sketched out in pencil first, then I inked it with Pigma pens, and colored it with many layers of Prismacolor colored pencils. Regular computer paper was used

Nope, I just use a light color to blend in colors. For example, I used a light blue and a light yellow to blend the dragon, a light yellow for the rocks, and a light green for the grass. It takes a lot of colors and a lot of layers to get it to blend properly

Yeah it takes quite a bit of time, but it is worth it in the end, I think. I heard from somewhere that it is better to have one drawing that took 10 hours than to have ten drawings that took 1 hour each.

The only thing I have to say is the dragons arms seem really small. Like... skinny wise. If the dragon's a quad, it wouldn't be able to stand.
That and i've never been a fan of fatter dragons, but this guy's awesome.
The improvements between the two drawings is awesome.

Hmmm, good point! I guess I was thinking of a T-rex, with the freakishly small arms and big legs. And we all know how well T-rexes survived
