Boruto's Return Arc
Three years later, after visiting the unconscious Naruto and Hinata, Kawaki complained about Mitsuki's killing intent and his close following of Kawaki. He assured Mitsuki he could still sense Boruto even if he had mastered the ability to erase his chakra signature. He flew away to shrink a newly discovered Claw Mark, finding one on another shinobi's neck, reporting it to Shikamaru. When Code's Claw Grime infiltrated the village and attacked, Kawaki fought them. He sensed Boruto's presence, him having been drawn out by the attack, and flew to meet him, more interested in dealing with Boruto than with Code.
As Code's Claw Grimes began attacking the village, Kawaki turned his attention to them. He attacked one targeting Himawari and Inojin, sparking its interest, which opened a Rinnegan and referred to him as an Ōtsutsuki. Offended at the appellation, Kawaki activated his Kāma and blasted it, determined to wipe them out. Having dealt with them, he attacked Boruto just as he had subdued Code. He stopped Code's attempt to flee by shrinking a newly created Claw Mark, and reported to Shikamaru. When he antagonised Boruto again, Code called forth a grime and escaped through it. He turned his focus to Boruto, mocking his Uchiha-style outfit, and asking if he returned to die in Konoha.
Before Kawaki could attack Boruto, he teleported away. Kawaki went to the Eighth Hokage, Shikamaru, to report the events. As Kawaki noted that Boruto was in communication with someone, he suggested that Boruto might be in league with Code. Sarada appeared and insisted that Boruto was only back in Konoha to help it. As Kawaki insisted again that Boruto is a threat as an Ōtsutsuki, Sarada noted the hypocrisy in Kawak as he too is one. Kawaki however insisted that his power exists only to destroy them all, and will gladly kill himself after the threat is completely dealt with.
