Thanks! Green didn't make it into the final design, though. I went with more monochromatic colors, to fit her personality.

I used a certain brush, and lowered the opacity to get the layered look.
It will be loosely based on the Hans Christian Anderson version of the Little Mermaid.

It's a 1989 sci-fi film about a US recovery crew using an underwater oil platform to recover a sunken submarine. But during this mission, they encounter an aquatic alien species.
It was directed by James Cameron, but it's not a horror story. There was a special edition DVD that shows 30 minutes of new footage.
Anyway, this drawing here reminded me of a scene near the end of 'The Abyss,' in which Ed Harris tried to communicate with the aliens. But since they (seemingly) can't speak the human language, they instead reply a message he wrote to his wife.

The glowy thing was an angler fish, but I actually haven't referenced a lot of fish. I referenced a lot of space formations for the colors, though.

Though I love the colors, I think she should be the same blue all over, without the black of the skin. It looks a bit out of place, and the blue would really help solidify the look over all.Β
However, like leSkullofOrinette said, it might be best to make him look a little less...all american guy (even if not based in America). He just seems to...common and cliche.

I love the colours, absolutely. And I dunno, I kinda like the human as-is⦠sort of a softer-featured cliche spaceman. It reminds me a bit of those classic pulpy sci-fi covers with the manly astronauts and the sexy aliens, except sweeter. My, I'm just in love with this AU!

I really love the colour scheme of her. I think the only thing I wonder would be the lamp like limb of her head? If it's always glowing, doesn't it compete in colour and light with the rest of her? Since you already have a nice pastel looking green, perhaps using it up there too? just to make it more uniform in that sense?. Aside that, I love the idea and the paper hahaha, it's a really good one. Looking forward to that final human design!
