reinforced glass has steel wires right inside the glass and sometimes metal frame around.
One can not just break it by one strike. Glass cracks but remains on the same place. It serves security reasons too - no large wounds by big pieces of broken glass.
nowadays they often use polymer film that makes the glass even more protected!
