Krita-Admin [2013-08-01 13:03:42 +0000 UTC]
Yeah... Krita really is resource intensive. Are you using Linux or Windows? If the latter, I've got a a 64 bits version of Krita for download now, which might help if you've got enough memory in your system. A 3000x3000 8 bits rgb image with 200 layers will, without undo information, but with all layers more or less filled need about 7 gigs of memory, which more than a 32 bits binary can handle. If you're using linux, and your system supports 64 bits, always install a 64 bit distro.

Proud Ubuntu user, here!
Well, I first need to clarify, because it gets to be a pain to sort through lots of layers (even with layer grouping), I usually only stick to a maximum of about 50 layers. From there, I compress the files and start that as a new .kra, for example, angel2.kra, and keep angel1.kra one in case I missed a few details to fix up later.
My computer is not a powerful one, I don't quite have that kind of money to spare. It's 32-bit, and only 3 GiB of memory (standard IBM Thinkpad T60, if you're curious). But for what it's worth, it's not very much of a hassle, for me. Especially thanks to Krita's autosave feature, I never lose too much progress, and - running Linux - I'm used to programs crashing around me. But I think the pros definitely outweigh the cons here, and I'm super happy with it.

I want you to take a minute Ihara, and compare this drawing with the last one where Angel was featured.
I'm absolutely amazed, good work!

Rest assured, I was looking at the older ones the entire time I was working on this one, because I don't draw Angel enough to remember her design by heart whoops.
Thank you!
