Description If I was a rich girl... ... Nananananananannananannaaaa~

Oh Gwen Stefani, I liked you better when you were still with No Doubt

I'm kinda bored and can't sleep - just thought I'd share this...

Aren't they scary?

This picture was taken in Harajuku when I went to Japan last summer. It was really fun there, but seeing people dressed like this was a sight in itself.

OMG CULTURE SHOCK~~

I'm dead serious when I say they just huddled together in a group sitting around in a corner where they did some freaky stuff.

XDXD My best friend + roommate always defends her ground when I bring this up. "DON'T ASSOCIATE ME WITH THOSE FREAKS!!". She's Japanese ahaha Meaning not everyone in Japan is like that. Only the weird ones are really weird O_o

EDIT-People who fave this are weird. That's all O_o

EDIT - Why that many faves?? It's just a photo! A not so great one at that! O_o

Y'all are wack.

Harajuku is just plain awesome. Im a girl who believes that fashion is art and a form of self expression so Harajuku is amazing to me.

You probably got so many faves because people are fascinated by Harajuku girls, admire them even, and wish they could get away with that. I personally love them and feel that way.

Okay, seriously, just like painting or photography, dressing up for wandering Harajuku is an ART FORM. If you hvae a problem with it, don't take pictures. People who favorite this picture will do it because they like it. That doesn't mean we're weird. PLUS, Not only Japanese people dress like this. I like in Canada and I dress like this. Open your narrow mind and be aware of the fact that individuality exists in this world.

How in the heck do they get the money for all those clothes? They're wearing layers of what looks like really expensive designer stuff.

k, man. it's called art. if you search for harajuku on deviantART you'll get about 8000 results. why? cuz there are people out there who really enjoy it. if you think they're scary you must have been locked in your basement for your whole life, cuz there's a lot more scary things out there than people taking self-presentation to a different level. I've known about the unique ways of cultures my whole life, and I find it sick that even though we finally have access to the whole world through the internet, people are still so isolated. There's so many people who can't see the beauty in something they're not used to.

I can't see anything weird or scary in that style. In Finland so many people wear like that way and I think it's pretty cool. And btw, harajuku and emo are totally different styles, for god's sake!

I think they fav it because it's hilarious. I'd die laughing if I got to see that. I'm laughing at it right now actually... Maybe I should go there when I visit Japan. I plan to study abroad there, and possibly live there for a while. I mean, it's the location of my personal mecca (Nintendo headquarters), so I'm going sometime.

And I'm totally jealous that you got to go to Japan. What did you do when you saw these people? (Besides take a picture. I know that part. ) The one in the bloodied up shirt and surgeon mask would freak me out.

What's in Harajuku that makes people want to do this? Is it a major anime headquarters or something?

I believe alot of the stores selling the Japanese punk fashions are in Harajuku and Harajuku Bridge is a really good place for them to hang out.

I only saw j-rock cosplayers and lolita and kigurumi (the pyjama type) when I went to Japan (winter limits people ><
The girl in the background with her 9000 hairclips is of the decora-kei...style,and there's an amaloli in the background, but other than that I'm not so sure.

Don't diss the harajuku style! I wanna go there, the way they just all gather to show off their clothes reminds me of the cospklayers at anime conventions, gothic lolita everywhere.

If I had seen this, I probably would've stood there, and stared, and stared, and stared, and...

And then they would've gone badass Harajuku (if that's possible) and beaten me to a pulp.
With their suitcases.

You mean people actually dressed like that, walked around town and weren't questioned? D:

Rainbou In reply to RedLotusNin [2008-05-31 17:27:09 +0000 UTC]

Yes. It's normal in the punk fashion districts. Like Harajuku, Shibuya, Takeshita...Mainly around Tokyo.
