[For those testifying how your fan-characters "aren't" recolors, I really don't care, just to let you know. XD And comments now disabled.]My Default webcam. Now, the message isn't necessarily true, because Sonic doesn't even know your fancharacters. So... doesn't that also mean pairing him up with them is kinda silly too? XD Seems so to me. You may not agree, which is cool, because it's just my opinion. It's just embarrassing how 95% of the Sonic fandom consists of n00bs, 99.99% of which have lame, recolored ZOMGFANCHARS. Even the handful of those who aren't n00bs are hopelessly obsessed with their SonicxFancharacter fantasies (even creating FAN CLUBS, good God). See, this is why Sonic fans are so looked down upon by, well, everyone else on teh internets. If you don't know what I mean, go look it up in Encyclopedia Dramatica. Otherwise, enjoy!
NOTE that I am aware there IS a difference between fancharacters and recolors, but when it comes to *generalizing* the Sonic The Hedgehog fan community, FANCHARACTERS=RECOLORS.

I actually have fan charries though. O_o But they're my own design, my own names, none of which are emo, and I would NEVER pair them up with ANY Sega Sonic character in exsistance. >.<

there really is too many fan characters out there, and they're getting stupider and stupider. if it isn't ninjas it's demons if it isn't demons it's some cocky twat with a serrated sword and an emo name (Sorrow the Hedgehog FFS)

It only bugs me when the owner of a bad fanchar makes kill art of original characters for barring Sonic or any other character and they're yellow Knux.
But nonetheless, you have a good point, the Sonic fandom is pretty much loathed outside the fandom.

Well i have a fan character(me) and i was planning to pair with sonic. He's so cool, so strong and fast. But i dont think he'll like me, probably too busy with his other girlfriends (Amy, Sally, other fan characters) who deserve him more than i do.

I got fan characters too, but I make sure they are as original as possible. I USED to have recolors, but that's the past. I'm thinkin bout takin down my club too...

as i'm a obsessed ''n00b'' myself xD
but i wouldn't say that my character is ex. a brown amy with blue dress, or something. there are many original characters out there, aswell as there are many freaking recoluors. and i would have no intention at all to pair my sonic fan characters up with the sonic characters. ewww.. i would rather make an own character and pair him/her with my character. but still there are these shadow fangirls, argh. i hate when i see that, a shadow with eyelashes and a pink shirt called shade or shadowa .

It's true that Fan Characters=Recolors.
I had a Fan Character who is close to Shadow. Look at gallery to see him. He's the one with all spikes are up.

I can agree with some points. Recolors are generally looked down upon, but I've seen a few, well-developed recolors that are more than just for show.
Fancharacter+Official=Unfair for everyone! That's just some lame excuse to make fancharacters look high and mighty. Got into it at one time, but then I find out it's overrated. I'm just glad it was a one-time thing!
I'll be faving this btw, because I support most points of it. Good call!=]

I completely agree with both of these pics.
Of course there is nothing wrong with fancharacters, but it ticks me off to
high end when people pair them with Offic. characters....and the recolors drives me insane. Though I have 3, I'm kinda against them for this reason.

Hmm... I think fanchars are OK as long as they are well thought out and a lot of time has been put into developing them. I happen to know a person who has paired up their character with Sonic but her char seems to fit and Sonic doesn't change character at all. That kind of pairing I can take, because no one has warped the official characters into something that they're not.

Well... if your character has a deep personality and isn't "copied" (I mean, sharing a couple of traits is fine) I think that's fine. Anyway, most of the characters I make are lovechildren, and extra mothers/fathers to get over the "cross species" problem. XDDDD
