Description
>There was a stranger with Kaleo when he pushed open the door to his apartment in the Messus slums. Naveen pricked his ears at the second set of pawsteps. Kishi stirred against his side and tilted his nose skyward. "What's going on?" he mumbled, voice thick with sleep. Naveen smiled and licked his boyfriend's frill, their nest of pelts shifting under him as he did so.
"Kaleo's home." he answered as Kishi rolled to all fours and stretched his jaws wide in a yawn, tongue curling in the streetlights streaming through the window. Naveen shook his head before he could think about his boyfriend's tongue more than necessary. "Smells like he brought someone home?" There was a familiar, heady, sweet scent wafting in from under the door that Naveen couldn't place, though Kishi's nostils were flaring like mad to drink the scent in. Kaleo's voice drawled in hushed tones with an effeminate, meek whisper answering.
"I know that scent." Kishi sounded quite confident in that fact. Naveen tilted his head at him. "...We should've been looking for him." Naveen frowned, and Kishi's weight left his hip as the harpy pulled himself to his feet just as the lock clicked open and the door swung open. Their leggy boyfriend strolled in, announcing himself as if to ensure they weren't doing anything obscene--Naveen watched as Kaleo walked straight into Kishi bumping their muzzles together and licking his chin.
"Welcome home--you just missed Kawai, she left to watch the races with that Rinari girl." Kishi's warm tones were muffled by his proximity to Kaleo. Kaleo sighed and returned the greeting lick. Only one, to Naveen's surprise, before he was ducking around Kish. Their positions blocked the new house guest from Naveen's line of sight, so he hauled himself up with a grumble and stepped into the Messus streetlight to get a better look. The ketucari Kaleo was circling to close the door behind was small, their cream pelt shimmering in the dim light of their apartment and the streetlights.
Kishi sniffed at them while Naveen approached, and their impossibly bright blue eyes lit up with recognition. "You--" they breathed, and looked around as if searching for someone else.
"My sister is still in Jordskarn." Kishi seemed to know exactly what to say to soothe them. "She named the little one Priya. I... don't think we got your name though."
The cream ketucari grinned and giggled. Naveen's heart melted as they smiled and gave Kishi a grateful nod. This was Priya's mother? The slave Kishi had mentioned? "My name is Alda. Your... your friend here saved me. Thank you... both of you..."
"I would've felt bad if I'd left without you..." Kaleo drawled. "Besides, I don't like slavers."
Naveen rolled his eyes at the tough display and trotted past is boyfriend to introduce himself. Alda smiled, eyes sparkling as Naveen leaned in to lick th-- her cheek. "I'm glad we decided to clean before you got home, Leo." he turned to watch the slate colored harpy. Kaleo rolled his eyes and sat down to lick his paws. That sweet, heady scent was stronger now, and Kishi was pressing close to Alda's side.
"I'm just glad you're back." the brown harpy hummed. "And Alda? Welcome to Messus. Welcome home."<
