"Hey. Wake up. I've got a surprise for you. Wake up, you doofus." there was a playful curl to Calypso's voice as she nudged Gecko's side with one paw. The stars twinkled above- the sky was absolutely clear of even the faintest wisp of cloud. The moon hung above, somewhere in between one of the more interesting phases, while the waves gently lapped at the shore.

The night air wrapped around the deustrum isomara like a warm blanket, and Gecko flicked an ear to catch the playful voice trying to rouse him. With a sleepy grumble, a yawn and a looooooong stretch of his forelimbs and wings, he lifted his head and blinked at the pretty isomara before him.
"'M up, mmup." he mumbled through sleep, and rolled onto his back to prop himself up on his right elbows. "What's up?" his voice cracked with sleep and and wide yawn, and he flicked his tail over the cool sand and looked past her to the sky for a moment, counting the glittering stars.
He reached twenty before he remembered that Calypso had a surprise for him and that was why he was awake at such an awful hour.

"C'mon." She jumped back a bit, doing an excitable play bow, and then nudged one of his arms with her nose. A moment later she grabbed it, trying to drag him out of his sleeping spot. "C'mooooon..." giving up, she scampered down the beach, trying to wave Gecko into a small hollow between the palms.

He had to admit her excitement was contagious. Gecko stretched out to bump his nose to hers at her play bow, and tried to roll to his feet and find his paws--this lasted for maybe half a second before she was trying to pull him to his feet, and he had to stand to avoid the pain in his arm. "Alright alright, I'm moving!" he laughed, and trotted after her, tucking his hind arms up against his chest while he plodded through the soft sand of the beach after Calypso.
He dutifully ducked into the hollow, sniffing the air curiously for some hint of what she was so desperate to show him.

In the hollow, a small spring burbled and spilled down the rock face into a clear pool. Shells dotted the bottom, mixed with colorful stone. Calypso grinned and pranced to a smooth table-like stone just in front of the pool. On it, she'd left a bundle carefully wrapped in palm leaves. She unwrapped it now with care- revealing a bundle of fat fish, still glistening from being pulled from the water.
"They're fresh- I caught them just an hour or so ago. Let's eat." she purred, smiling up at Gecko. "Under the moonlight- just the two of us." a sly smirk on her snaggle-toothed muzzle.

Gecko froze, staring at the colorful spring for a long while, before grinning at Calypso and cooing his praise. The hollow was nearly as gorgeous as she was, and he was honored and touched by the gesture.
He trotted to her side and nuzzled her cheek. "This is amazing, thank you. This was worth waking up for." he cooed, and settled down beside her with his wings and a hind-arm draped across her back. "You really do live up to your namesake--my dear Calypso."
