SOBS what am I doing with mah lifeeeee ; A ;
It's been too long since I posted anything, but I took a break from commissions and sketched this out as practice, more for drawing/coloring hair and coloring the skin.

even though it was supposed to be for practicing a painterly style

Commissions, school and work have kept me busy, but I can't help but think recently about how people develop in art. Many times, I will fall into this rut where I see younger people drawing more advanced things than I can, having a developed style, amazing anatomy etc, and I feel like I fell behind. Or you see improvement memes where in the small span of time they had, ex. a year, I haven't changed my style or skill all that much. I know I'm not the only one who feels this. I feel like it's a common feeling among other artists or among anybody. It's definitely something that's difficult to overcome because I feel like the more I compare myself to others, the more I start to dislike my work. However I read a cute motivational comic where in the end, it states that it doesn't matter how quickly we get there, but that we keep going. There will always be someone better than us or farther ahead. There will be someone younger who has done more, but it shouldn't stop us from going towards our goal.

In order to stop myself from sulking, when I saw better artists's art I would figure out what I liked about their art and how they did it. It helped motivate me instead of make me feel inferior.

Okay enough lecture, here's a small update.

I started going back to work at a retail store and at first there was a lot of pressure and a lot of hours I needed to put in. Because of that and my current commissions, I ended up having no time for anything else. BUT now I have less hours at work and more free time :3 Hopefully that will result in more art here.

My Etsy shop has been going well so that's been helping a lot. I've been really enjoying having commissions and having others enjoy my art. School has been going well too. I'm currently only in a Typography class, but it's been keeping me busy.
