Description

I can FINALLY bring the Reiches Kriegsmarine insignia to realization! This would not have been possible if not for the AWESOME drawings by TheRanger1302, whose template and base drawings are being used here. If it were not for him drawing the Petty Officer uniforms, this series would not be posted. He also was incredibly generous enough to make a modification for me on one shoulder insignia, so again, many, many thanks, my friend!

Here are the Enlisted & NCO ranks.

ENLISTED RANKS

Uniforms for the Enlisted ranks consist of the standard sailor jumpers, pants, and sailor cap.

Matrose (Seaman Recruit) - The entry rank for all enlisted in the Reiches Kriegsmarine. This rank is held throughout Navy Basic Training, which lasts approximately twelve weeks.

Matrosengefreiter (Seaman 2nd Class) - Upon graduation from Navy Basic Training, all sailors are promoted to this rank.

Matrosenobergefreiter (Seaman 1st Class) - Promotion to this rank occurs after six months in service. Those who have served in the Imperial Corps of Cadets or are Honor Graduates are promoted to this rank upon graduation from Navy Basic Training.

Matrosenhauptgefreiter (Leading Seaman) - The highest Enlisted rank in the Reiches Kriegsmarine. Promotion to this rank occurs nine months after promotion to Matrosenobergefreiter.

PETTY OFFICERS
Upon entry into the Non-Commissioned Officer ranks, a sailor's uniform changes. They are now permitted to wear frock coats and gain both shoulder and collar insignia, but still keep their sailor's caps from their time in the Enlisted ranks.

Matrosenstabsgefreiter (Petty Officer 3rd Class) - Promotion to this rank occurs upon graduation from Rating Training (example, Gunnery, Corpsman, etc.), usually one year after promotion to Matrosenhauptgefreiter.

Matrosenstabsobergefreiter (Petty Officer 2nd Class) - Promotion to this rank usually occurs eighteen months after promotion to Matrosenstabsgefreiter.

Unterfeldwebel (Petty Officer 1st Class) - Promotion to this rank usually occurs two years after promotion to Matrosenstabsobergefreiter.

CHIEF PETTY OFFICERS
Upon promotion to Chief Petty Officer, the sailor's uniform again changes, this time into a uniform identical to those worn by officers, except there is no gold braid on the cap. They keep their sleeve, shoulder, and collar insignia as well.

Feldwebel (Chief Petty Officer) - Promotion to this rank takes three years from promotion to Unterfeldwebel, as well as successful completion of the eight-week Chief Petty Officer course. The CPO course may be waived during wartime.

Oberfeldwebel (Senior Chief Petty Officer) - Promotion to this rank takes three years from promotion to Feldwebel.

Stabsfeldwebel (Master Chief Petty Officer) - Promotion to this rank takes four years from promotion to Oberfeldwebel. This is the highest operational rank for a Non-Commissioned Officer in the Reiches Kriegsmarine.

Stabsoberfeldwebel (Command Master Chief Petty Officer) - This is a unique rank, held only by the highest NCO aboard ships of light cruiser size or larger or shore-based commands.

Befehlstabsoberfeldwebel (Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy) - This is the highest enlisted rank in the Reiches Kriegsmarine. The rank was created in 2007, and has only been held by four people.
