Featuring my OC, Ikarus! (He's been needing some love lately.)Ikarus is an AI - a virus to be exact - and he lives on the online game "The World". His whole story's kinda complicated but this is from part of it I guess. This would be a picture of the regeneration form he takes when he is badly damaged. In this particular picture, he had just badly lost to... his antivirus, Sol, I think?
"Safe Mode" refers to the basic, minimal mode you can restart your computer in in order to fix it after it crashes/something goes wrong with it (in case you didn't already know). Ikarus in this form is barely functional. The whole mess of wires and failed parts just wanders around his little safe place until he fully regenerates. With creepy wire-tentacles. 8D He isn't conscious, and the cameras keep a lookout for danger while he's out. The wires are supposed to be mobile and along with bearing some weight, can be used to feel around the environment or strangle enemies in the event that something finds its way into his safe-haven.
This illustration was for my Figure Illustration class final, but I never got to finish it during the semester. Hooray, now I just have to finish the midterm! OTL
Yes, that means this picture is pretty much 6 months in the making. WHY YOU TAKE SO LONG TO DRAW ALL THE TIME, IKARUS!? No wonder I draw Aram more often... Pfff.
I usually don't ask this, but please download for annoyingly pointless details that probably nobody will ever see (every wire really goes somewhere, god knows why).

Oh bloody fucking mother of god in HELL! (pardon the swearing, but I HAD to!!!!!!!)
So I was looking for the map of Persy in your gallery and am NOW hitting myself for not seeing THIS before. It's utterly WONDERFUL and I don't CARE if you say it took half a year to do! The detailing on all those wired and the perspective you used here? Hel-looooo~? Am LOVING it. LOVING it. All the small details and the lighting placement are deliciously wonderfully done! AND the shadows! It's a behemoth of a figure to make, definitely. The only thing I would question is the amount of light in this tunnel, but since I don't know the world, I'm assuming all the powered-up light cells are where the brightest light is.
No matter. Stillllll...... THIS IS LOVE~ *claps for you* Would love to see more gripping things like this in the future! Even 100 or 200 hours - I don't care! It's just wonderful! (even if I have no idea HOW you used Google Sketch Up for this!)

Might do some more personal work with Ikarus... but I don't think I have the time to put this much work into something for myself. lol Oh well, we shall see I guess~
Are you familiar with Sketchup? I just... shaped a large hexagonal tube and then uploaded a custom texture that I did on Photoshop. I had to do some tweaking to get it the right size and stuff... but yea, after that I just turned on the fog option and snapped screens from different angles until the perspective matched the figure I drew.

I like when someone takes the time to make nice intracite details that actually do have some logic behind them, indeed your right that every wire has its place. As a detail nut myself I must say a do like this quite a bit the wings, though simplistic looking to me are still rather lovely

I love the perspective effect of that chamber like thing... room? Place? IDK what to call it, I think my English is getting worse orz... *breaks the fave button*
ANYWAY! On with the comment: I love the binary code, I love the hexagons! I love how you picked blue and red for the cables, making them look like flesh and vasculature! The metallic parts looking like bones... All of those limbs are so well drawn, which is really hard imho, haha... I also love the wings and the whole mechanical stuff, especially since it does make a lot of sense.
The lighting! Ohgod... you made the feathers partly transparent and the shadow on the floor is also so very detailed...
All of this effort... totally worth it... this picture just blew my mind the very first second I saw it! I adore this creepy, eerie yet sad and touching feeling I get when I look at this. I want to know more about this "person" when I see this... I want to know what they are, how they ended up where they are... I want to know if they will be fine again, will they ever wake up? I want to know why their expression is not only one of unconsciousness, but also... somewhat one of pain... it's a little sad, as if to say "Good bye world, I will sleep forever now... It was nice to know you... "
This picture... it captured me, it captured my heart. I feel tempted to approach him, to try and kiss him, make him wake up like sleeping beauty, if only to die because of the protective mechanism... it's light a bright light, and I am the moth...

Wow Shin, thank you for that novel of a comment! Your English is fine. lol I'm not really sure WHAT that place could be called... area, I guess? It does have a name, since all the areas in The World have names. Unfortunately I can't remember what it is right now. lol
Since this is a final for a figure illustration class, it was very important to get the anatomy down. The goal for this piece was to showcase the knowledge of anatomy that I had learned throughout the semester, since that is mostly what it will be graded on. So even if muscles and veins are replaced by cables and bones by metal, the challenge was to keep the anatomy accurate and realistic where it wasn't purposefully broken on the rejected limbs. Most of the limbs were drawn from a live model sketched during class.
I'm so honored that you think so much of this pic. ;u; I'm also glad that all of those complex feelings that I was trying to portray came across! Ikarus is probably the most complicated of all my characters, since I've had him for quite a while and have played him consistently most of the time. Thankfully this pic isn't so sad because he's nearly fully regenerated here, so he'll be up and about soon after this image! He did lose a lot of data though, and had to relearn a lot of things.
