Sure! Why not?
I wrote my sign on a paper and scanned it with high contrast black&white. Then I edited it (to remove the fringed edges, to make it look more 'smooth'), made the background transparent, copied it and inverted the colour of the copy (so I had a white and a black sign). Then I put the white over the black one andΒ moved it a bit so that the black looks like a shadow of the white one. That's it. And now I can add my sign as a new layer to each photo.

I was playing around all day, thinking it was similiar to do that. I just couldn't do it, yet.
It's more complicated than I thought.
But thank you...I will keep working at it. I'm not that great at PS or any of those.

I'm more used to GIMP than anything else. The high contrast scan will probably be my problem. I tried taking a pic of my signature on white paper, but even that I couldn't figure out how to make transparent without erasing my signature.

Hi Emmi. I've been trying to do with you said about my signature, and even looking at the links, but my GIMP doesn't have the options you are mentioning. It's pretty old...like 6-7 years since I downloaded it. Do you think I should delete and download a new copy? It's been really frustrating. Crazy.

Emmi...the version here is 2.8.14 and yours is 2.9.1. I heard 2.9.1 can be buggy? Is that why you gave me the link to 2.8.14? I haven't done it yet...but I've uninstalled the one I had.

Yes I'm on 2.9.1, it's the testing version still under development and may be unstable. I use Linux so I'm always interested in using new features, testing software which is still under development and although in reporting bugs if I find some. The 2.8.14 is the stable version for productive use. I would strongly recommend you to use the stable version!

I may take you up on that. I took the picture of it...and even though the paper was white, it came out sort of...gray. Do you think that will cause a problem?

Do I have to uninstall my old? I wonder if they write over it.

If the sign is good and sharp visible it should be no problem if the background is slightly gray.
I think it's better to uninstall the old version at first and then install the new one because of your outdated version it may cause problems if you 'only' update it.
