Hello, hello. I'm still practicing with my tablet. This pic was entirely inked with the Brush tool (with some help from the Polygonal Lasso tool near the end cuz I got tired of hand filling every black spot). Had a big scare with the tablet last night D: It stopped working! Completely! I had to reinstall all the software, thank God it's not broken or anything, I've only had it for... no more than two months!Sketch version: [link]
Made Ushi's hair more like it actually is :0 Er... that's about it, I think.
So now I got the basic color theme down. Next pic will be a color version!
As always, (all are Genin)
Left - Hitsuji/8/Female/the Genius/Ninjutsu user, but compensates with taijutsu/Earth-Wind type
Middle - Shiiba/13/Male/the Leader/Taijutsu user/Fire-Wind type
Right - Ushi/12/Female/the Healer (hum, 'the girl')/Medical Ninjutsu, Genjutsu user/Earth type
Tried the white outlines thing too

The only thing I can say is keep practicing. I don't think there is any miracle solution.
In addition to that, if you got your tablet recently, you can use it instead of using your mouse for things like browsing the net or clicking files (basically, everything you use your mouse for, use your tablet). This would help you to get a feel for the screen mapping.

Yeah, the lines aren't so good on the fish net stuff lol. I think I was just doing quick brushes. I definitely wasn't very good with tablets at the time, so needed to get things done before it drove me nuts XD Thanks for the feedback

Very nice. I like how Shiiba has his hitai ate headband wrapped around that thing around his neck. Neat touch.
As far as some constructive critism goes, I think that their clothes are a little too complicated. It's easy to overlook a character that has too many busy lines, and it would take a lot of studying for another artist to actually sketch the same character. To you it may seem simple, but it's probably because you were the one who came up with it in the first place.
For a suggestion when you make other characters, after you draw the initial sketch, take a good look at their clothes and think to yourself, 'is this practical for what my character is supposed to do?'
As for shinobi, like Hitsuji, Shiiba and Ushi, you'd have to remember that they move around a lot and do a lot of physical work, so you'd have to try to make their clothing suitable for such things.
I think you've done a good job with that, but there is a lot of extra stuff that if taken away from the character, they might look even better, and would be more eye catching too.

Actually, it's not rare for ninja to be drawn wearing fishnets and so on. Traditionally, especially in comic books or movies where they play the role of the bad guy, they wear black clothing often with nets. You didn't actually point out what you thought was overly complicated, so I'm thinking maybe that's what you're referring to.
If you could elaborate a bit on what you meant, that would be great. Other than that, thanks for the comment!

I don't see how it's stereotypical. You have male healers and you have female ones. In this case, the female one worked better in terms of characterization, therefore that's how it is.

Mary-sues are those 'amazing/angsty' characters with hugely exceptional powers who have a hidden often sad past. They annoy the hell out of everyone. But your characters are not! So yay ^^ Plus they actually look like ninjas for once
