ikillyou121 ā€” Don't be afraid Fluttershy!

Description My first try at making a 'ponies IRL' picture. Here, we see Fluttershy in a field being startled by her own shadow. Luckily, I was stood next to her with a camera and was able to take a picture and quickly calm her down afterwards :3

This is a very interesting style of PIRL, and I do really like how it turned out for a first try. The shadow on her mane turned out very realistic, and the perspective was very nicely done.

However, as good as it is, there were a few things that irk me about it.

For one, her actual shadow [the one casting down onto the grass], though realistically feathered, doesn't match the shape of Fluttershy herself. If you used Photoshop to create the PIRL, then it's fairly simple to make an accurate shadow. If not, then I'm not so sure, and you might have done the best job that you could have done, which is just fine, although it seems a bit too elongated to look very realistic.

If no one else has said it before me, the blurriness is a little irritating. If you drew this yourself using pastels [as I've seen a few deviants do in the past], then you've done a stupendous job, and you can skip to the next paragraph. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/wā€¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Wink)"/> But if you intentionally made the vector that blurry, then I'm afraid you were either going for the wrong result or overdid your expectations. I use blur as well in my PIRLs, but I only use a blur of one pixel, maybe less, just so the vector blends a little more with the rest of the photo. So basically, it's a bit blurry, unless that's what you were going for.

Besides those two things, and a couple of potential touch-ups, it's a fantastic piece, and original to boot! You've done a marvelous job for a first timer, and with work and revision, you can improve your work to near-perfect status. Keep on doing what you're doing, man! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/sā€¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>

Thanks for the critique man. Like many people have said, it is too blurry. For the shadow, I actually based it off the shadow you see in the scene where Fluttershy jumps into the bush, which may be why it seems a little unrealistic. As for the vector paragraph, it isn't a vector. Fluttershy was drawn / painted purely using the paintbrush tool in photoshop. I used a very fuzzy brush which led to Fluttershy being too blurry. If I'd have used a less-fuzzy brush, is might've looked a lot better and clearer.

But like you said, for a first try, I feel like it was an excellent attempt and I can use the techniques which turned out successful in this in a possible future PIRL to make it 20% cooler.

Its very good for a first try, the shadow is very well done. This is very original and very amusing. Very cute. One thing that bothers me a bit is the blurriness of her. While the rest of the picture is an average quality, she is very blurred. Now this may have been your intent to make it as though the camera didn't focus on her, if so, the left eye could be shaded a bit more. Also, one or two little shading mistakes. Also, I'm not a great artist so don't take my critic seriously. All in all very good, favorited it e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/wā€¦ " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Wink)"/>

Let's start this off by saying this is veeery original! I haven't seen this done before and you have done a stupendus job giving it your own special touch! Not sure what vision means....but this is certainly eye candy. The technique with the blurring fluttershy annoyed me just a smitch....I get how blurring her enhances her in the sun but this was just a little to much, just a little. The impact was smooth and the only reason I give it a three is because the backround could have had a little....I'm not sure but just a little extra something

I personally like that she is in a field but, the blur is a bit much you could have soften that a bit more the model shading is excellent with an exception of mane and tail shading, also the body shading near the chest is a bit off the body on top of that the shadow on the ground needs to be a more angled down at the bottom of the picture. The small problem I have with this image is that you shaded the visible ear like this "(" it should have been shaded like this ")" also you should try to shade by looking a the way the small grass shadow are pointing. Other then that this is very good to be your first Ponies In Real Life.
