Eyyy the show is still interesting. We just got to a point where we took a little break from the important episodes. But keep in mind that we still have cool things to find out like:White Diamond,Pearl's secret,The war etc

True, but I don't know why even those plot points don't seem as exciting anymore, at least not at the moment... I guess I just miss the days where the show focused more on the Crystal Gems and Homeworld was still an ominous mystery.

Hmm possible. It's weird how we want questions answered but at the same time we want to be back in the days when everything was a mystery.
Idk how this feels for me honestly. After the recent episodes appeared I knew there is going to be a huge hiatus again so I started Star vs the forces of evil. I honestly love that one.I enjoyed it so much it actually made me forget about the Su hiatus. Now I can't really choose between these 2

The one thing i couldn't understand about her is that if she really hate Jasper so much then why could she just poof or shatter Jasper in the first place instead of fusing with her. I mean after "Jailbreak" she was literally on the beach with over billion tons of sea water right next to her. This would ultimately defeat Jasper within less than one second. And in case if anyone tells me that she only doing this because she wants to "protect Steven." Hows that suppose to protect Steven? she can't even control Malachite in the later part of the series, at which she could've unfuse Jasper immediately. Besides even without Lapis to "protect Steven" Jasper still could've been easily defeated by the Crystal Gems. The plotline between the relationship of Lapis and Jasper is getting pretty out of no where. I blame the crewuniverse for this one.
If the Crewuniverse want to create Malachite fusion then I'm totally fine with that. But they could've at least come up a better reason for Lapis to choose to fuse with Jasper. If I were a storyboard artist or a script writer this what I would've wrote.
When Jasper asked Lapis to fuse with her, she accepted the offer but keep in mind she doesn't do that to protect Steven, she only doing that so she could torture Jasper. Lapis doesn't trust neither the Homeworld nor the Crystal Gems, not even Steven, despite of help her to recover her gem. Lapis intentions was not to poof nor shatter Jasper but to make she will spent the rest of her life as a prisoner in the form of Malachite in order to make Jasper be miserable, at least this is what she thought. Throughout the series what Lapis didn't realize that she began to struggle to keep Jasper from controlling Malachite, slowly losing her grip. Within later part of the series Lapis was becoming so weak not only she couldn't able control this fusion from Jasper, but couldn't even unfuse as well, giving Jasper the chance to control Malachite. Lapis was fusing with Jasper for so long (resulting of a psychological impact) that she even have a hard time to convince herself to unfuse, or maybe some sort of chemical reaction during their fusing period that are the one set these two closer then ever before, (Lapis did say she "miss her (Jasper).")After Malachite v Alexandrite, what really would've happen is that Lapis should've explain to Steven that she didn't realize to she couldn't able control herself during fusion and didn't want to take part of both Crystal Gems and Homeworld (probably they did something to her). That would leave the Steven and the audience to understand what she been through.
I honestly don't know what was going on during the abusive relationship between Jasper and Lapis during their time in the homeworld ship, but I want to leave a message for any Crewuniverse reading this that they could've at least show what was going on in that ship. Always set balance between show and tell.
Here's a video for more detail.

Just to warn you this is going to be a long one
First off I would like to point out that at the time of the episode Jailbreak Lapis was afraid of Jasper more than she hated the latter. The big reason for that is that Jasper has a very violent personality, the type of personality that you would not want to say no to.
As for the fact that she couldn't control Malachite in the later part of the series bear in mind that this is after AN ENTIRE YEAR of keeping it at bay, ANYone would be exhausted after that. Also the reason she fused with Jasper in the first place goes back to the fact that she was afraid of the others wrath, once fused she was out of Jasper's direct line of fire and used the opportunity to imprison the two of them.
As for the abusive relationship being out of nowhere it wasn't. An abusive relationship requires two individuals with two different personality types: 1 a dominant personality who has no qualms about using violence and abuse to get what they want, and 2 a more submissive personality who is forced into the relationship either by a) desperation to find love (like Harley Quinn) or b) Circumstance. Jasper is a veteran soldier who is used to getting what she wants and not used to hearing 'no', Lapis spent millennia trapped in a mirror with no one to talk to and is still recovering 5 seasons later. All that's missing is for them to wind up in a relationship which happens when Jasper is pissed by her defeat at the hands of Garnet and starting to reconsider Fusion. Enter Lapis who is close enough, supposedly on her side and is afraid of Jasper anger enough to go along with it.
Lastly, as for what you were saying about show don't tell, sometimes hinting at something and letting the viewer fill in the gaps themselves can be a more effective story telling method. Or to put it simply a line like "She had two kids before the war," is more effective than "She had two kids before the war. Until one day she left home, a bomb dropped on her house and her kids died in the ensuing explosion". Words are a resource, and you have to use them effectively especially when your episodes are 10-11 minutes long. Quality not quantity. Don't believe me, then look at all the origin story films that are blatant cash grabs that could have and in some cases have been summarized in a few lines in their film of origin
TL;DR:
-Lapis formed Malachite because at the time she was afraid of Jasper and what she'd if she didn't
-Lapis lost control of Malachite later on because she was mentally and emotionally exhausted after a full year of continuous effort
-She imprisoned Malachite because she knew that while fused there was nothing Jasper could do to hurt her in a physical sense
-Jasper and Lapis' abusive relationship doesn't come out of nowhere
-And lastly 'show don't tell' is good but sometimes 'imply don't show' is better
