This is a beautiful picture. She reminds me of a ballet dancer with her outfit and the pose of her legs. And I think the expression on the man's face, with the slight lift of his eyebrow and lip, conveys a very innocent feeling. I don't see anything insidious there. ^-^ I think what makes the girl look so young is a combination of things: her rounded face (perfectly normal for female characters in anime), her "dependent" pose clinging to him, and the fact that her chest just happens to be hidden behind his arm (so one major indicator of maturity isn't visible). Individually these things wouldn't affect the apparent age too much, but in combination they make her look younger than she is.
My art professor hit me with the exact same criticism when I was doing a thumbnail, by the way. I totally know how you feel. Try to draw something innocent and people twist things around...bleh. -_-;

is this supposed to be a couple? a kid and a teenager? and thats okay with everyone? and dont dare start with the "but in the comic they are supposed to be all 18" or some strawmen argument - it doesnt change the fact that the girl is clearly meant to look like a child

To clarify everything so this ridiculous drama can be sorted out, the girl is actually 16 and the guy is 17. And besides that, I think you're taking this way out of proportions. Sashay away thank you very much.

Actually no, the girl isn't meant to look like a child (she has wide hips, thin waist, pointy fingers, polished nails and bust for a reason), but he's supposed to be a lot taller than her. If you see an incoherence in size between them (not only the height) it's because of my own failure with proportions (one of the many things that I need to keep practicing), and you actually flatter me in thinking that I'm at a certain level where I make no mistakes
On the other hand, if she was a child, I still wouldn't see a problem here. What is wrong with a guy kissing 'a child's forehead? and what's wrong with the girl blushing because of that? it's such a common thing for girls to have a crush on teen/adult men... and unless you're a girl, you wouldn't understand what a pure and innocent feeling that is, because you've never felt something similar.
Now, if you want to think that she's a child and the guy is leading her into a motel to have sex or something like that, then that's your own dirty mind playing you tricks

oh you think art should be immune to critique? and the picture obviously portraits them as a couple or romantic relationship - it doesnt matter if the characters arent - i criticize the picture portraying a near-adult in a romantic relationship with a child, maybe you think thats fine, but most people and countries disagree

ofc not, but it is a commish, she draw them for other ppl, so why u bother to comment snething like that? and it obviously portraits them as a couple? yea right, i saw many family pics that similar to this -.-
and why care about other ppl and countries if u like something? and besides if u like somethind here dont mean you like it in real life, like i think it fine if near-adult in a romantic relationship with a child, dont mean i think it fine in real life..
