"Up and away we go!"

The legend of Mount Ibestus is like telling the story of Aunov, you can't have one without the other. There is no one better to tell its story than Lightwing, a large bird with wonderful powers and silver feathers that shine in the sun. Before Aunov's inception, it was small kingdoms and smaller villages that dotted the land, including one at the base of one of the largest mountains in the area. It was probably no more than 20 people, all who respected and loved each other. The large bird loved this little community, and loved calling it home. However, it came to a bitter end when Mount Ibestus erupted. Lightwing did his best to protect the village from the ensuing avalanche of lava and debris, but was mostly unsuccessful. The village was buried in rock and its people sadly perished, while the shining avian was also preserved in the cave that was created.

Years later, as civilization grew and created Aunov, Cookie and his friend Ryex visited the mountainside to explore, discovering the buried village that would give birth to the kingdom they know now. Within it, they discovered the fossilized version of Lightwing, woken from their presence. Thanks to them, Kye, and the power of the Aurora Lights, the avian was freed from his rocky form and was reborn to fly again.

This is part of a series of pictures that a very close friend of mine gave me permission to reupload to my DeviantArt gallery, as he is not on any other platform at the time of this upload. This one from 2016 is based off of a roleplay we both did then, which started out as a casual hike, but turned into discovering a lost civilization. Because it was so long ago, I feel like this description needs to be written again, but this was my best shot at trying to recall those events. Lightwing is probably one of my favorite characters of his, and getting to see him for the first time, and like this was a really special moment!
