Design Topic 5: The Scene of the CrimeYour next design topic is to create a design based on a crime scene. Inspired by the photography of Melanie Pullen. Your setting is a crime scene, and your design is the victim. I want to see something creative, interesting, mysterious. Very edgy & high fashion.
This is due on August 2nd.
Phew! Ths topic is definitely difficult. I couldnt get the idea for a few days then it finally knock my head. My design is a victim of Jack the Rippe r[link] So you get the brutal slash along the skirts and the back of the bodice. I couldnt do the effect of ripping/torn clothes so it turned out flat color. darn!
Fabrications: I use blood-red thai silk for the bodice and skirt, with baby seams along the hem. Black raw silk for the second layer and scarlet box-pleated tulle. Fishnet and rope (from the hanging noose) serve as accesories.
The shoes. lol. Scarlet balerina shoes with satin ribbons and gold pearls.
I used color pencils so bear with me. Enjoy!

i think there was a photographer who u got inspiration from...she took photographs of high fashion in murder scenes...i noe i found it in 1 journal

you know what? i can definitely see the inspiration here!!! i really can! to be honest, it's a wonderful design. unlike mine, you can actually wear this anywhere you want...anytime....at least you don't have annoying chains and a freakin head-dress that covers your entire face....like other people did on their design...

I can see you had a bit of rough time with this, but this is so much more on key than last week!
It's a pretty good looking dress, and the idea had some thought to it. I do like some details, like the seems in the bust area.
I have to say the overall presentation is just okay, and I wish you pushed a little more as in some of your other work, but I like the back view!

i know the feeling for not being able to draw exactly how you want it to look! Lovely dress it definatly give the feeling of freshly ripped apart. I don't think the rope belt goes though, i mean it goes great with the topic, but not with jack the ripper. He didn't ever hang people did he? I may be way off there i'm not sure, but the rest of the dress is fabulous.
