I had some time over this week so I did a quick painting (~2h from start to finish). Been playing FFXIV again some and I really, really like miqo'te (and Y'shtola specifically) so did this while waiting for a friend to come online.


Just like the last piece I did this one focused a lot on what James Gunrey in his book calls “Shapewelding”, or (simplified) linking light areas together to form a bigger shape, and doing the same for dark areas. 

It’s a difficult angle to paint so thought it’d be good practice.

I recently became familiar with this character through Dissidia NT, and loved her there, so I went looking for some nice fanart and yours is absolutely stunning! Gorgeous work with the lights and shadows, and the pose is so delicate and lovely. Beautiful face as well!

Much appreciated! I had just read Gurney's blog post about shapewelding when doing this, which is an area I've been revisiting again the last few weeks. It's a bit different from the other Y'shtola I did, but I like both.
