I had to shorten the title becuase Unpopular opinions - Eeveelution Squad, Special Chapter 1 does not fit as a title for some reason.

Anyways sorry for not uploading one of these in 3 days. I took yesterday off to take a break since in addition to the previous 4 reviews being very long, my uploads about Japan Airlines Flight 123 and the Kursk Submarine Disaster were both incredibly long as well. But I'm back now, to discuss the Special Chapters.

Oh boy the Special Chapters. I have a lot to say about these. But with the titles, I'll get back to that later. For now though it's fine here since these are somewhat disconnected from the rest of the series. And we get a whole Exxon Valdez of lore dropped all at once. Yeah I see these first few like the Exxon Valdez, and trust me, especially since the Exxon Valdez is the second largest marine oil spill in American, maybe even just in history all together. And that does mean we'll get to Deepwater Horizon. Trust me, we'll get there. More awful analogies aside, this one starts with Speedy reminiscing about being famous and oh so much more. It's also acknowledged how crazy his life has become. It also very curiously mentions that Speedy knows what happened to Sunshine's biological parents, although this is never brought up again to my knowledge, so we still don't know what happened to Sunshine's biological parents. We also get him questioning his identity (get used to it) as well as a mention that he was confused that he healed quickly. A reasonable thing sure, but it gets retconned later. And this is where the true purpose of these first Special Chapters becomes apparent, as now we get Speedy's backstory, which starts with him sleeping and Kris still being a bastard. This naturally happens at the point where they are all still Eevee's, 5 years in the past. Flare is also actually namedropped, I think this was actually the first time his name was said in universe. Then after some delay Speedy leaves the treehouse and says that he will be careful, as per usual. This should be a subtle hint that he will in fact not be careful. I can sense the Exxon Valdez about to hit the rocks. And there we go. The Luxio returns, now as a Shinx. Also his name was Trace. I forgot because he isn't very important to the series. They're also in a rescue team because PMD, but Flare and Kris don't know this. I also guess that the Andrea Doria and the MS Stockholm are much further away then I thought. I know they do collide at one point, and the Andrea Doria does sink. Anyways we get some more exposition, like how Trace's dad is a scientist who has in fact engineered evolution stones that work like mega stones, in the fact that they can be reversed. I'll take 10. Also he says it's hard to explain but I just explained it in half a sentence. Skill issue. We also learn that Speedy's parents died, so he is in fact an orphan along with his siblings, after it being rather ambigious for some time. (this also gets turned on its head later, spoiler alert). We also get a really odd joke about Trace wishing Speedy was girl. Ah, I love out of context sentences. They're even better when you have NO context and you're getting the context from me. I would not reccomend that honestly, as I am both very descriptive and not. Anyways, Speedy becomes one of the planes involved in the Tenerife Airport Disaster, as his collision with Lazuli was not his first, although this one was on the runway. I'm awful. I really am. The other "aircraft" recognizes Speedy, as like I said he was famous. Trace doesn't have as much luck though, as he is only recognized because of his dad. And then we get the first major revelation (one of them) of the Special Chapters, that the other "aircraft" in the collision was Silvia. Trace is also a simp, *clenched teeth* like we needed another one. We also see Gai, who is in fact evolved at this point in history. However Silvia does not later recognize Speedy, although this is thankfully explained. Unfortunately Speedy achieved Trace's goal. I bet that will be important later. After Speedy gets home, he is later seen committing hate crimes against a random ass Hypno with Trace. Well that would be the case except they are instead rewarded for it. Why is never said, although the obvious answer is that the Hypno was a criminal and they handed 'em over to the police. But again, this is never said. And then his dad, who for some reason I thought would be a Luxray because that's how it should be but is instead an Ampharos, wait what?, is getting massacred by a Lucario who is trying to commit corporate espionage. Or at least that's what I thought was happening. The Exxon Valdez is near, I can feel it. Then Speedy a prototype something or other that Trace's dad warns him against using, but he uses it anyways because of course. He then becomes a Flareon and this is where the series starts to fall apart. This moment. I think this exact moment right here was the beginning of the end for Eeveelution Squad. Then Speedy reverse massacres the Lucario, but now Speedy is being mind controlled and massacring (I'm going with this spelling) Trace. Just then Frost arrives, a Glaceon who becomes much more important later on, and we get more battling and exposition about the fact that Frost got seperated from Speedy during a wild Pokemon attack at some point or something. Somehow despite all of this exposition the Exxon Valdez is still afloat, and its contents have not yet spilled into the Prince William Sound. And then Frost destroys the stone and it mentions the word beserk among others, which gave me Vietnam War Flashbacks, but then Frost destroys it for good after a scene that was not emotional whatsoever even though they wanted it to be. We also get a random cut that shows that Black's dad died and Frost rescued him. Why this is relevant to this chapter idk. But now Speedy is Eevee again, and we learn that this is because Frost (was, spoiler alert oopsies) is Black's brother. Also before that Grenfell Tower burned. He also gets a scarf from Frost and then cut to Speedy and Trace being in a dungeon. This is to look for Jirachi so they can get wishes. It's also revealed that Speedy, Flare and Kris almost died to a Feraligatr 7 years prior. Also Trace has an everstone so he doesn't evolve, but we previously saw him evolved... ok then... They then come across several Pokemon and they point out their red eyes, and this is where Speedy evolves after being pinned down by a Metagross and having there be a Thunder Stone right there for him to use. I wonder what Eeveelution he would have chose if he weren't in that desperate situation. He then massacres the red eyes, yeesh lots of massacre in this chapter, and they find Jirachi, and Speedy manages to land one really good hit on Jirachi somehow despite Jirachi being mythical. Trace also wastes his wish on an apple. Of course. This is also where I think the Exxon Valdez's spill is iminent, as Speedy, after being unable to wish his parents back to life, and then he wishes for a healing factor, which grants him the ability to heal instantly and basically makes him immortal. Great plot device you got there. Also yeesh, I knew that Speedy being confused by his own healing was retconned, but I forgot it happened this soon. Like in the exact same chapter. Trace also got a note from Jirachi, which was weird. He also makes a very ironic statement about needing to find Jirachi a GF. Not another one. Ok maybe I was wrong about the Exxon Valdez too. I know it does spill at one point. I know it. Speedy then enters his own house and is "greeted" by Kris, yunno, the bastard. He's also referred to as Speed for the first time. The chapter ends with no Exxon Valdez Oil Spill and Speedy snapping back to reality, ope there goes gravity.

Ok maybe this WASN'T the beginning of the end, but I know just like the Exxon Valdez and unlike the Andrea Doria, it is near. Was there even an Andrea Doria? maybe that too was a Mandela effect.
