This is a powerful image, Ilija - I'm particularly taken with the subtle contrast between the clouds and the trees/valley. Also, the filter at 665nm, does this make so much difference compared to a 720nm filter - I would have expected more red?

I am also putting into the Showcase gallery, rather than experimental.

Cheers

David

Thanks, I really appreciate the comment.

You're right about the 665nm, normally it is quite more red, this photo was with the same camera/filter setup [link]

I usually prefer the look of the 720nm filter, but sometimes weather conditions aren't ideal for a nice saturated sky, so I used the 665nm filter to get the increased color for the sky, and desaturated the yellow/red channel to look like the 720 effect. Actually in some weather conditions and certain cameras, the 665nm can look quite similar to the 720nm even without the desaturation later.

I checked your site - very interesting for conversions - I'll have to look more at these. I like the technique - as I shoot at 720nm and above I've not yet had a chance to work in this lower register. All very interesting.

Many thanks for posting to the Infrared-Club.

Cheers

David

Actually, I take that train up to the Uetliberg every day. I live there

ilimel In reply to Yakhashe [2011-12-20 17:39:17 +0000 UTC]

When I hiked to the top I didn't pass any train tracks, the train I was thinking of was the one on the other side of the lake that goes up to the Dolder Grand, which is so steep the train itself is angled, but it makes sense that there's one up to the Uetilberg also
