Description Most people think mercenaries spend their days fighting bush wars on the fringe of space in alien terrains, but in reality, most find work as security details for private expeditions, contractors and colonies. They much prefer these jobs which are often low-risk, long-term contracts aboard cushy and comfortable civilian ships. After all, if your expedition can afford to hire mercs, it probably didn't skimp on the quarters or the food either. And if something does happen and the mercs do well, it just increases the odds they'll be hired for high-value, high-paying cushy jobs in the future.

Never tough of this.  Wow.  I did think of mercenaries that are also salvage experts.  Your thoughts.

I would think every mercenary group would have salvage experts among them simply for the fact that when they beat an enemy they could take his gear and salvage his ships. But they would definitely be salvage hunters and treasure hunters and maybe even surveyers if there is no work to be had or if they got info on a juicy deal. Also, when times are tight you may need to recycle ships and weapons you would otherwise retire.

I understand your thoughts.  But my Idea is for a small, read % to ( max persons.  To be specialist in raiding deep behind enemy lines, both in space and planet.  Guerrilla warfare and salvage experts.  So their main ship should be no more than a corvette size.  Also with a ground vehicle.  Your thoughts please?  Also do you think they should be using power armor or regular armor.  But yes their armor will be capable of operation underwater, 250 feet max depth, ground and in space.

The timing has to be just right for it. There pretty much has to be a war going on for it to be profitable. Its also probably best to have more than one ship. Salvage operations can take a while, and if you are tethered to some drifting hulk when an enemy patrol shows up you could be in trouble. Maybe a corvette and a transport.

Corvette and transport.  Sounds great.  When I think salvage in the middle of warzone I am thinkning in the lines of weapons, hand guns, and torpedoes.  a full ship is just to much.  Unless is a corvette size or smaller.  Hey how abut the ground vehicle?

It depends on if you are doing ground salvage or space salvage. If you're doing ground salvage  then you would definitely have some sort of ground vehicle in case the salvage was at a spot where you couldn't land. But ideally you'd just hover over the salvage site or land right next to it. Even then I guess you'd need a vehicle for heavy moving.

I understand for salvage.  But combat an APC would do nice.  Plus a combat shuttle if you have something bigger than a corvette.

Nothing like getting paid top dollar for those "just in case" scenarios. We would BORED AS SIN on those kind of jobs... Might be the only time we enjoy being bore though.

Hmm, but then we would miss out on some of that wonderful "hazard pay".
