Description The bearded krake is a squid especially common in the northern hemisphere, though they do have a smaller southern population. They belong to the same clade as humboldt squid. With a mantle averaging between four and six feet in length, they are around the same size as giant squid of Earth, though much shorter due to smaller arms and tentacles. Though they hunt in the depths during the day, they rise to the surface at night. These are voracious and socially complex predators. As among the most abundant mesopredators in their size class, they themselves serve as prey base to many larger predators.
