Some gliders, with dinosaurs like microraptorans* and scansoriopterygids, and nontherian mammals eutriconodonts, having gliding descendants on the Eastern continent. Many clades, like multituberculate nontherians and adapiform primates, had gliders too. Not all of the gliders shown here even reached Kaimere, much less have living descendants, but I want to highlight just how strange some real gliders were. Most glide with patagia, or a stretch of skin, between front and back limbs, but there was a range of experiments in other configurations.

*It's been pointed out by a few folks, notably www.deviantart.com/inmyarmsinm… , that Microraptor was probably not a glider, but capable of burst flight. My assertion of this in the video was based on studying many years ago. Although the topic is complicated and from what I can tell there isn't consensus on if it was a glider, burst, or true flier, but generally it seems most favor that it could fly. Interestingly, based on earlier (potential) relatives with smaller arms, it seems increasingly likely that if Mictoraptor was capable of flight, it would have evolved independently of birds. Yet another thread in the wildly chaotic fabric that is paravian evolution!
