A letter to my neurotypical friend:
'I'm sorry if I didn't laugh at your joke. I didn't have other people around us to laugh so I couldn't get the cue and laugh with them.
I'm sorry I ignored you calling me, I was just focusing on the task at hand and couldn't switch my full attention on you in that moment.
I'm sorry I left your party so early, the noise of people eating and talking loudly was terrifying me.
I'm sorry if I didn't want to sit down close to you that time, the flickering lighbulb above you was drilling a hole into my brain.
I'm very sorry if sometimes I avoid physical contact, sudden hugs can alarm me in ways I find hard to explain.

What I'm NOT sorry about is for being autistic. Because it's not a flaw to me. I just see the world differently from you. And I can also see it the way you see it. And many others see it.
I can see your emotions before you open your mouth, before you even aknowledge me. I can feel when you're happy, when you're upset, when you are angry, when you are in a hurry and that emotion is so strong for me that I ABSORB it and feel it for you too. I'm pure empathy, so please, don't tell me I don't care for our friendship or your feelings. I infact do. More than you may even imagine.'
