oooooooomfffffgggi finally finished this picture..
after like.. a year.......
because i looked through my old journals, Journal Entry: Wed Jan 30, 2008, 4:55 PM i wrote "1. finish avril lavigne"
and i know that i was working on it before that ahaha
loong time x__x;;
anyways
this was done by mouse... hence the long time .__.
and the hair.. i had to take a size three brush and brush through each strand of hair o__e
i apologize for the messy hair on the left... i got a bit lazy haha

NOTE: this is RIDICULOUSLY good with a mouse, i'm stoked to see what you will produce with the tablet. I'm giving crit blatantly so... it might sound a bit harsh.
nose... something is wrong w/ the highlights on the bulb.
eyelashes are mediocre, they work, but not to their fullest. eyebrows don't usually curve upwards so much, more like down towards the outside of the eye.
Even avril's eyelashes aren't that thick haha
Eyebrow blending is quite.. terrible? as is the blending of the flesh around the lip.
lip has pretty aite colors, good job there.
hair = nice stuff. could be simplified a bit more and keep the effect... but seeing as it is done, good work.
no shadow under chin on neck?
missing some minor shadows and highlights, esp around the lip and in that "crest" above the lip.
the iris(?) of the eye (the gray part) is not depthy enough...
though i like the pink in the sclera.
Overall: good job. especially with mouse.

cuz celebrities tend to pluck their eyebrows lot pretty high up too

i think in the reference her eyebrows are curved more upwards though ;o

actually you might be right about the eyebrows.
The blending around the eyebrows is a bit messed up tho.
did you make a seperate layer for the eyebrows?
the problem i see is that there is a bit of lighter colored skin directly below the eyebrow on the right side. This makes it seem like the eyebrow is floating.. >_<
Also the eyebrow is contradicting the lighting of the face. remember to shade in the eyebrow after it's done being painted.

Considering you did that with a mouse that's amazing. I use a mouse for some pixel art stuff Pixel per pixel and that takes awhile to. If you made a slightly more drastic contrast in shading on the nose on the left side of the arc it would look better and not look like it's fusing back into the face.

the right eye is a little off, however considering this was done by mouse it is fairly impressive. Another problem would be the left eyebrow.
