When to Use Katakana:
Katakana is used only to write words that aren't original Japanese words. Even if its just writing your name(unless your name happens to be Japanese, in which case you would write it in hiragana) or writing the word coffee, it would be in katakana. My name, Carly, is written as カーリー。　I'm still not completely 100% with katakana because we kinda just started learning it in my class(pathetic I know), so once I learn more about it and stuff I'll post it. ^_^ Sorry, about that... xP
