After WWII, soviets just take back their own former lands (not all of them).

the Poles in return took German lands in the West.

Poland has existed as a modern independent state since 1919, and was a close ally of the Soviet Union from 1947 to 1990.

So, I cant see how "always been enemies".

Actually not ally, USSR forced Poland be communist state with support of polish communists who captured power in country.

Althougth, Poland was still middle ages and even occupied my country in 1612. Between Poland and Russia always were territorial problems and claims in both sides.

I spoke only for modern era, cause I think that only modern era counts.

For example, I am greek. Greeks fought with persians from the acient through the middle ages.

But in modern era we have a firm friendship with the Iranian people, and thats count in the end of the day.
